“A relaxing holiday enhanced by the GOs and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

My wife and I spent 9 enjoyable days and nights at Cherating Beach. From the time we were picked up at the airport, until the time we left, the staff could not have been more helpful in their desire to ensure that we enjoyed our stay.
Our room was well located and the bed was comfortable, and although the room was somewhat tired and in need of a re-fit, (which we understand will occur over the next couple of years) we didn’t have any complaints. It should be borne in mind though, that the hotel is a heritage structure and is one of the largest wooden connected buildings in the southern hemisphere, so improving the outside will be somewhat challenging!
Everything was immaculately clean and tidy, including the main pool, and the Zen pool (for over 18’s only), where we spent a lot of our time. It would have been nice if there was a designated section of the main restaurant for guests without children, so that they could at least enjoy the excellent variety of food in peace. Although all the restaurant staff smiled and were courteous, Tisna, Fairy, and particularly Sareh went out of their way to ensure we had everything we wanted.
There are many fun things to do (even for middle-aged adults) if you wish to do so. The sports team were also very helpful, including Joel, Fizz, Lim, Pierre, and especially Eric, who was a laugh a minute! My wife really enjoyed the yoga classes and enjoyed all the assistance that Karlein offered, including an individual class to make up for another yoga class that was noisy, due to people thumping along on a treadmill at the time! Fortunately, yoga was moved to the Yoga Deck away from the gym after that.
For people who love their coffee, it’s hard to find a good one, but Tatiana at the main bar managed after a couple of goes to make one that my wife enjoyed. Every time she saw my wife approaching, a coffee appeared automatically, just as she liked it. Also thanks to Alyssa, who made a great gin and tonic, for those of us not so keen on coffee.
I would also like to commend the acrobatic team who work so hard to ensure that any of the evening shows that involved them were of a high standard and appreciated by the audience. We also loved the evening shows, where the cast comprised many of the GO’s. They were all fun and well-choreographed. When you consider that the cast often practice at around mid-night for a couple of hours, it really makes you appreciate the hard work and dedication of all the team that goes into these productions.
Finally, thanks to Juju for running the ship and addressing a complaint promptly. I have been to another Club Med, which was good, but the staff at Cherating makes this one exceptional!

We would be happy to return here again in the future.

We had the most enjoyable holiday ever at the Club Med Cherating! Its not the place, but its the people that makes the difference! We were welcomed by Dee & Kim at the airport, they were friendly, cheerful and makes us felt at home. Juju and the team of GOs were all very professional, not only as GOs, but effective trainers and entertainers too!
The buffet spread was appetizing, lots of varieties everyday, fresh and well presented be it during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not forgetting the Noodle Bar, nice ambience for afternoon snack!
The activities organized at the club are plenty and definitely something for everyone, it was beyond our expectations. The dance session with Martin, the rumba with Eric, and nightly entertainment were great. The zen pool is a must for all adult, we could just laze there all day. We plan to come back again and stay at least 5 days. Keep up the good work GOs!!

Room Tip: Those who want to chill, laze around in nature, and no shopping whatsoever should go to Club Med...

First time on a clubmed, and we are thrilled by the 7 days spent there! The room was not up to standard, but we were upgraded to a room that had no mildew and was new, thanks to the lady responsible for the reservations, very much appreciated! The staff organizing the activities are great, and there are fun things to do for everyone! Worthy of mention is Sareh who treats her guests with the utmost respect and is always going the extra mile, and you will see her in the dining room catering to everyone, getting drinks, etc. she is a keeper!..also the gal doing the trapeze was so sweet with our 9 yrs old she stood out! However, one GO (American gymnast from Montana) was rude to guests on a few occasions and we witnessed also times when he was unpleasant with his co-workers...not sure he does much for your club! Food was very good, lots of variety and overall a great stay, and will try another club med some day! Thanks to the team!

Over the long weekend in Malaysia, I visiting this resort along with a large number of colleagues and their families. We got a price of slightly less than RM1500 for 3D2N which we thought was fairly reasonable for all the facilities provided. Unfortunately though I have to say that this particular Club Med in Cherating has most definitely lost its soul/spirit and the magic that a Club Med resort is supposed to exude was most definitely missing.

To put it very simply, they had probably just over 30 GOs I guess and nearly 600 guests over that weekend. As you can imagine the GOs were knocked out tired everyday taking care of so many things and they were pretty lacksaidical. I totally do not blame them, I can see they were really trying their best but the famous great spirit and attitude of the GOs were definitely not there. Apart from a few of them who were great sports (there was this tall white dude named Jake who was a ball of fun), the rest weren't even friendly and barely made an attempt to befriend and chat up guests. The management has clearly decided to sacrifice quality and go for great quantities of guests. The food as well has clearly suffered because of this and day in day out the same fare was served some of which was unappetizing and anything that was even the slightest bit good would be finished up literally within minutes and the chefs would be struggling to deliver a second batch.... There were just too many guests!!

However I do have to admit that this resort is still fantastic for kids. Most kids would thoroughly enjoy their stay here and with the reasonable pricing, I guess most families would be able to afford it.

Just returned from a 5 day family holiday at Club Med Cherating. Our party of 7 ranged from age 3 to 72, so I was a little nervous as to whether we would all enjoy ourselves. I needn't have worried. The team, led by the inexhaustible Juju, were super friendly, energetic and efficient, and ensured that we all had a great time. My 7 year old boy is normally rather timid and reserved, but the fantastic GOs ( esp the Mini Club team - Carol, Leonor, Kelly, Jenny) managed to get him to participate in all the activities, even the circus stuff, by the end. On our last day, when i signed him out of mini club, his first question to me was, " Mummy, when can we come back again?". Which says it all really. The more athletic adults in our group had a fantastic time trying out all sorts of activities, including trapeze, sailing and the tree-top challenge. There was hardly a queue for anything as we were there in low season, so the resort was less packed than it could have been. Even the senior members of our party had a good time strolling around the wonderful resort, going out on excursions and watching the fabulous nightly performances from the energetic GOs. A special mention must go to the circus team, who are utterly amazing, and whose night-time performances inspired my little boy to conquer his fears and try out the treetop challenge and the trapeze for himself. Also to Aaron, Clayton, Lim, Shane for taking me sailing for the first time, and Martin for the fabulous choreography of the nightly performances and his fun dance lessons. And not forgetting Richard the nurse, who calmly and efficiently dealt with my son when he had a splinter in his foot and was screaming the place down.
I must also mention the food. There was a great variety ( Chinese, Malay, Indian, Japanese, Korean and Western stations), great quality and it was all beautifully presented, and most importantly, managed to satisfy the two senior members of our group, who are notoriously fussy about their food. There was also a good selection of vegetarian dishes for me, such that I never felt deprived ( unlike in a previous Club Med elsewhere...).
The communal areas by the bar, reception and pool, and the toilets were all kept spotless by a highly efficient, well trained staff. When our 3 year old dropped and broke a glass of drink by the bar, in literally 2 seconds, 2 members of the housekeeping team were on hand to clean up the mess, and carefully check the area to make sure that no shards had got anywhere else. One of our party did not know where he lost a pillbox with medicines, and within an hour of reporting it, was approached by a member of the housekeeping staff, who had found it. Mohammed, who made up our rooms, delighted the children by folding towels into the shape of elephants for the children to find in the evenings.
In short, despite our large age range and large range of athletic ability ( ranging from sedentary to fit), Cherating managed to keep us all entertained and wishing that we could stay longer. Thank you for a good holiday, Juju and team, we hope to come back soon!

Just came back from our first ever Club Med holiday at Cherating. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Especially my kids. My 9 year old son was teary and wanted to live there for ever. He made friends with two GOs. Carol a mini club leader who was extra sweet and warm and Martin who encouraged my shy son to dance with the crowd. Even my 3 year old danced the night away.... Best part is the amazing entertainment and friendly GOs. We were also lucky to have been unexpectedly upgraded from our Deluxe to Suite. While the place needs abit of maintenance, room was cleaned several times a day which was a surprise to us. Great food variety though we felt the taste could have been better. Nevertheless, I loved the noodles snack bar. I am a Club Med convert and my next holiday will be a Club Med again. My kids really loved it and that is what counts the most !

Our family of 2 adults n 2 teenagers had a great time in club med cherating. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every moment of it. Food was good especially the Rembulan restaurant located at the other side of the island. We met this GO named Sareh and she is so friendly and hospitable. We practically dined there almost everyday. The after dinner shows by the GOs were fantastic. They are all so talented . The K Pop show was amazing! Every one working there went out of their way to ensure that all guests had a great time. Club med cherating good job!!
