My wife and I spent 9 enjoyable days and nights at Cherating Beach. From the time we were picked up at the airport, until the time we left, the staff could not have been more helpful in their desire to ensure that we enjoyed our stay.
Our room was well located and the bed was comfortable, and although the room was somewhat tired and in need of a re-fit, (which we understand will occur over the next couple of years) we didn’t have any complaints. It should be borne in mind though, that the hotel is a heritage structure and is one of the largest wooden connected buildings in the southern hemisphere, so improving the outside will be somewhat challenging!
Everything was immaculately clean and tidy, including the main pool, and the Zen pool (for over 18’s only), where we spent a lot of our time. It would have been nice if there was a designated section of the main restaurant for guests without children, so that they could at least enjoy the excellent variety of food in peace. Although all the restaurant staff smiled and were courteous, Tisna, Fairy, and particularly Sareh went out of their way to ensure we had everything we wanted.
There are many fun things to do (even for middle-aged adults) if you wish to do so. The sports team were also very helpful, including Joel, Fizz, Lim, Pierre, and especially Eric, who was a laugh a minute! My wife really enjoyed the yoga classes and enjoyed all the assistance that Karlein offered, including an individual class to make up for another yoga class that was noisy, due to people thumping along on a treadmill at the time! Fortunately, yoga was moved to the Yoga Deck away from the gym after that.
For people who love their coffee, it’s hard to find a good one, but Tatiana at the main bar managed after a couple of goes to make one that my wife enjoyed. Every time she saw my wife approaching, a coffee appeared automatically, just as she liked it. Also thanks to Alyssa, who made a great gin and tonic, for those of us not so keen on coffee.
I would also like to commend the acrobatic team who work so hard to ensure that any of the evening shows that involved them were of a high standard and appreciated by the audience. We also loved the evening shows, where the cast comprised many of the GO’s. They were all fun and well-choreographed. When you consider that the cast often practice at around mid-night for a couple of hours, it really makes you appreciate the hard work and dedication of all the team that goes into these productions.
Finally, thanks to Juju for running the ship and addressing a complaint promptly. I have been to another Club Med, which was good, but the staff at Cherating makes this one exceptional!
We would be happy to return here again in the future.
