I spent 2 weeks at Club Med Cherating at the beginning of April with my 12 year old daughter. It was our third Club Med holiday and the best by far. I believe two things made the difference. First the Body and Soul event, run by Lisa and Linley. When I arrived I felt really stiff and my left hip hurt, then day after day with the Body and Soul classes I slowly started to regain strength and body awareness and by the end of my holiday I was at the top of my form. I also enjoyed their meditations and visualisation classes, especially the rainbow one that made me feel more optimistic and daring.
Second the staff there was really amazing, friendly, polite and genuine, not just the GOs, all of them Amhed, our cleaner, was always available, smiling and did great drawings with flowers and leaves on our beds.
We found a community that was accepting and supporting. They encouraged me to try new things, Joel introduced me to rock climbing, Julie to treetop walk, my daughter (future GO) trapeze, Cee offered me some of his free time and we played the best squash game ever. I also tried dancing – I`m so bad at it – and eventually I learned a few steps. I had so much fun!
Once I came back to London I had the confidence to join all the classes at my gym (they are quite tough and I never managed to keep up before). So the benefits continue and the fun as well!!!
It wasn`t a “perfect” holiday, one afternoon my daughter had a very high temperature and we were scared, but Richard, the nurse, came with us to the hospital and the taxi driver was nice and friendly. Eventually what started as a negative and frightening experience became a pleasant one and we ended up eating pizza together in Kuantan when she felt better.
The 12 year old daughter: When I first arrived at Club Med Cherating, I thought that it was a really beautiful place, better than what it looked like in the pictures of the website. There were so many activities and sports that I didn’t know where to start. A good place to start is Passworld, with Hansley. At Passworld you have designated times to do all the activities, so you don’t get big adults that take up all the activities, which is great. You also have a timetable, which is nice to have structure, but you don’t always have to stick to it, and you can leave whenever you want. I tried so many new things at Cherating. My favourites were: Trapeze, sailing, treetop walk. I tried them all for the first time and it was very very fun! Trapeze was my favourite because I had never done it before and when I did it was the greatest. I even got my mum to do it! The shows were AMAZING. They never failed to entertain and make you laugh, Juju as a magician was the funniest thing. I really want to come back and live there forever. Passworld also went to a waterpark in Kuantan and it was really fun!
I would like to thank the following GO’s for making Cherating truly amazing=Zarith, YuJie, Ervin, Teddy and Christina-mini club. Jay(the fabulous), Joel, Kiwi, Paul, Kerry, Sarah and Montana- the circus team. Lim and Richard- the really nice. Lynley and Lisa- body and soul. Juju- the French funny guy. Monza- squash. Kris- archery. Eric- fitness. Last but not least, Hansley, the King of Passworld.

Here you can enjoy one pleasure after another, none of which is anything like the last - an excursion in a dugout canoe, a relaxing session at the Club Med Spa or a cocktail at the bar, to name but a few. ... more less
