“Keep your expectations low and you'll be okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

Stayed at the Negri Sembilan pavillion, which was a nice cozy 2-bedroom villa. Just nice for a family of 5 with children aged 14, 10 and 7 years old.

The private plunge pool attached to individual villas was the main plus point, and was certainly very convenient, especially for a mom with three boisterous kids. The proximity to the beach was also very good, with nice waves for the kids to play in (but don't use floats for the kids though. The undercurrents are quite strong and could be dangerous for children on inflatables). There were also plenty of beach area for kites and sand castles.

The sofa bed in the living room was also very convenient, allowing extra sleeping area for my teenage son.

But calling it a five-star resort & spa was a bit of a stretch. They did not have the level of service that warrants a luxurious hotel. Was supposed to have a private check-in, which they did arrange for me after some initial wait. But had to check out at the Holiday Villa reception, where the queue was long.

The villa was also a little worn, with many signs of wear and tear. Bathroom was worn, with taps coming apart and water pressure very low. No hot water either.

The coffee house had a nice ambience being so near to the beach and all,but the quality of the food was disappointing and not up to hotel standard.

Nevertheless, its still something that a small family might consider for a relaxing hassle-free holiday. Try to find promotional rates, don't expect room service, go out of the hotel to find food, put up with the worn bathrooms, and just enjoy the cozy pool and beach.

Room Tip: The published rate is a little steep for the level of service provided. Try to find promotional rate...

this villa is strategically located On the main road of Cherating. staff from reception, f & b and housekeeping were friendly, though clearly lack of training. We stayed in perak pavillion and after check-in we were served with light snacks comprising of cake rolls, tea and sandwiches for 2. The private pool is clean but rather small with not much privacy as passers-by would be able to easily see the pool. On the second day we noticed the following:-
-Poor breakfast for the amount paid and sharing with holiday villa.
- poor housekeeping services I.e, towels not replaced, shower gel not replenished, takes an hour for housekeeping to arrive after a call.
- rooms are only up to perhaps 3 star standard and not for what we paid for which is rm500 per night.

Overall, for a boutique resort it requires a number of improvements.

a really bad joke. Touting themselves a luxury pavilions. Definitely not. A concrete bordered plunge pool doesn't make luxury. Those are very average 2-3 star chalets. Small stuffy bedrooms. Very basic bathroom. Tiny TV with fuzzy picture. Whatever the price they charge it is a rip off. Not much better than the hotel (holiday villa) they are actually part of.

Room Tip: no hope ! all bad

We booked Eastern Pavilion but were not told it was part of the 3 Star Holiday Villa. All the services were shared including a very sub-standard pool with sunbeds that were at least 20 years old and extremely uncomfortable. Service was non-existent, there were no sunbeds to speak of on the beach and certainly no beachside or poolside service was provided. Breakfast was very poor with a limited selection and horrible coffee. The location of the hotel was at the bottom of a drive off a very busy road. Any local restaurants were also on the main road and some of them were not keen to serve Westerners. The beach was fabulous but not made use of. We hired a car but even with that facility there really was nothing to do. The local town of Cherating was very quite with 3 open restaurants. We were also bitten badly by mosquitos. We came home needing another holiday to recover.

Room Tip: Don't go.
