“Best Accommodation in Cameron Highlands”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

This hotel brings you right back into the past in its mock Tudor style. The staff were exceptionally well turned out and helpful; Jason the manager couldn't do enough to help. We enjoyed a lovely lunch, high tea, drinks by the fire and a game of monopoly during our stay. The included tour was ok, but the hotel itself was the highlight.

Had a nice two day stay here. The outdoors are lovely and my daughters enjoyed running around in the gardens collecting pine cones. The service is good and we enjoyed the dinner at the restaurant. The lunch menu is a little disappointing though.

We stayed in the Deluxe Room and Junior Suite in the Resident House. The Resident House is located in the annex block of house wing. It offers privacy and has a small herb garden outside the house. We had to walk up a short but steep slope from the Main House to reach our rooms. This is a beautiful tudor-style boutique hotel with only 19 rooms and has no elevator. The older people may not like the idea of walking up the slope and they need to walk up and down the stairs with their baggage.

The rooms are cozy and comfortable. As the hotel faces the main road, I could still hear a low level of traffic noise at night but it was easily blocked by a pair of ear plugs.

There is air conditioner in the room. Cameron Highlands used to have cooler weather everywhere but has become warmer due to illegal deforestation. Fortunately, the hotel is surrounded by lush greenery, hills and jungle. There is also a muddy brown colour lake opposite the hotel.

In the morning, you could take a stroll in the garden, breathe in fresh air, smell the flowers, hear the birds chirping, enjoy the magnificent view from the terrace, read or daydream on the sofas. A great escape from the hot humid weather of Singapore.

In the evening, relax and chill by the fireplace at the Highlander Lounge or enjoy quality time with family and friends.

Breakfast spread is small but good enough as we were asked to order from the a-la-carte menu as well. Don’t forget to try the honey! It’s so fresh!

The place is remote and quiet. We had steamboat dinner at the hotel on our last night of stay. It was surprisingly fresh and better than the one we had at Brinchang Town the previous night.

The hotel has free shuttle service to Tanah Rata Town, twice daily (A.M. and P.M.) If you take the P.M. shuttle, you would need to find your own way back to the hotel.

The hotel can also help arrange for airport transfers, tour activities, taxi for sightseeing and guided jungle trekking. For those who prefer hiring a taxi themselves, I would be happy to share our driver’s contact.

Finally, the staff are polite and friendly, especially Yin. Overall, we had a good time staying at the Lakehouse.

Room Tip: For elderly people, avoid the Resident House.

This hotel is really beautiful in every way! The incredible details that this hotel has been decorated into did blew us away! The garden is well kept, the interior is very cozy with comfortable couch to rest in, the service by the staffs was superb, the room is very comfortable with clean bed and nice bathroom with bathtub.

This hotel is located at the lower part of Cameron Highlands and there is a lake just in front of the hotel. If you are up for some physical exercises, you can go for a jungle expedition behind the hotel where you can hike your way in with or without a guide! Highly recommend this hotel!

We popped back here after a few months interval and were very pleasantly surprised as the service and quality of the tea had both improved. We had afternoon tea for 4 in the sun on the terrace and it was lovely. The service was quick, warm and efficient and the cakes, sandwiches and fruit were super (particularly for 55rm for 2 pax and the low sugar carrot cake was superb). We will be back, for sure.

A wonderful place to stay in : warm welcome, delicious breakfasts, beautiful bedrooms, nice spa and wonderful massages. Very close to tea estates but not in the ugly village of Tanah Rata. High tea highly recommendable !

We booked this hotel due to the good experience with Case der Mal (its sister hotel) at Langkawi.

Arrival to the hotel delayed due to the signboard dropped at the direction from Simpang Pulai, it took us to travel 1 hour more to reach there. Overall check-in process is very effective, it took less than 5 minutes. The room service response is also fast, I made a call to request for a fruit knife and a couple of glass wine. The staff turned up at my door within 10 minutes, he brought both white wine glass and red wine glass as I didn't stated which type I need. Room is spacious (we booked a suite) with an impressive bathroom.

Tried their spa, good service and relaxing. Tried their restaurant for dinner which in fact not quite satisfy. The waiters seem like a new trainee, cannot answer many of the questions. Always refer us back to the senior one whom only one to attend to many tables of customers. This has slown down the overall service. Same situation happened during the breakfast, those "new staffs" dare not take order. We had to wait for the "senior" for our turn to get our order done. Well, this is no doubt a relaxing hotel to be but for us who travel with young kid, we may find not enough facilities to keep our little one busy.
