“Excellent experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

I recently organised my trip through Zali for myself, husband & 2 kids aged 8 & 6. Wow what an experience. We were there before the rest of the crowds got there & were there way after they had left. It is similar to being a zoo keeper for the elephants and get to appreciate the animals and the work the volunteers do. Zali was excellent, he replies to your mail so quickly and there is never a dull moment. My kids loved the experience of feeding, bathing the elephants. It is an experience worth every dollar and not to be missed.

“Nice palce, well organised , clean. I recommend it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2014

Decided to visit after recommendation from relative who visited and found it interesting. We booked with a local tour company in Kuala Lumpur at a cost of 180 Malaysian Ringit (approximately £36). This included 2 hours trip from Kuala lumpur , admission fee and lunch. The sanctuary located in remote palace like village, within area where aboriginal lives. The place is nice, relaxing and surrounded by original rain forest. On arrival we were served lunch which was reasonable and clean. Then they took us to see a film which highlights the effort been made to protect these animals. We then were taken to see baby elephants which are orphans and are looked after by this place. We also given the opportunity of feeding them.
This was followed by show of adult elephants with their trainers. They were taken to local river to have a bath to cool them down which was interesting. The show ended by giving the audience an opportunity to feed these elephants. The palace had toilets which were clean, there were also places to sit and canteen which sells food and refreshment.

“Excellent experience, friendly staff but all over too quickly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014

Really enjoyed this experience and would do it again but just wish we could have had more time. The highlight for me and, I guess, most people is actually getting in the river with the young elephants as this is something so far away from normal experience that it is bound to stick in the memory for ever - it's not every day I get to scrub an elephant's back!. Worth emphasising that this part of the visit isn't "compulsory" and quite a few people chose not to do it. The fee was I think MYR 25 per person. Even without it though it would be a highly worthwhile visit (although is quite reasonably long drive from KL).
The session starts with a video showing the translocation process undertaken for a number of elephants from the wild to a wildlife park - informative and worthwhile watching. This is then followed by a short demonstration of the elephants and their handlers' skills, and watching the older elephants take a bath in the river. Back in their enclosures, we then got to feed the animals and do the usual photographs. Fruit was provided but there was also an opportunty to buy some extra sugar cane for a nominal amount. This was then followed by the bathing in the river with two of the younger beasts. Good fun, splashing scrubbing etc etc. Overall, a fun experience and even though I'm usually slightly wary of animal-based experinces my fears were largely allayed when I saw what good condition the animals appeared to be in and how calm and peaceful the environment was. Tourist interaction is heavily limited so the animals are not being exploited by constant performances. That's a big positive but, being selfish, I would still have loved an extra 5 minutes with them!
There are very clean changing facilities there if you don't want to travel in your river gear and basic showers available afterwards. Small cafeteria and gift shop but all very low-key. Staff all very friendly.

“An event that I will remember for a long time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2014

Excellent, we had the experience of 2 tours guides that were able to provide detailed information of the area and also of the elephant sanctuary. After watching the video, I was reluctant to swim with the elephants, but after doing so and getting totally water logged by our female tour guide is an event that I shall remember. Oh and you get to feed the elephants by hand after their introductions are made to the viewing audience. Thoroughly recommended

“Great family adventure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

The place is great! Lots to learn from the guides. Eddy is a great guide and even helped us to get back to town and buy our return bus ticket. Free entrance and guide fee is reasonable. bathing the baby elephant is a once in a lifetime experience. Try it!
