One of my favorite dish is grilled fish ( direct translation of 'ikan bakar' is burnt fish, but its meaning is grilled fish). That sort of dish is a luxury to me, as they are usually served in the city centre or near the seaside.
It's wonderful now there's one in my neighborhood. Within a walking distance, The Ikan Bakar 'Tergolek-golek Tulang Rimau' stall is located in Taman Tuanku Jaafar -Fasa 3. A small stall specifically for grilled fish but they collaborate with other stalls for drinks, rice and other meals.
Price per fish is about RM10. Fishes are limited according to the numbers they received that day - every day new fishes are delivered. Sotong bakar and pari bakar are among that quickly went 'out of stock'. I recommend tilapia bakar, where even the skin is thin and crunchy yet soft and succulent you'd even suck it. The grilled fishes are not poured with sauce (as Portugeuse grilled fish are usually served ) but is served with dipping sauce
What's so special about this ikan bakar stall? The two sauces. One is spicy soy sauce and another is a sweet sambal belacan sauce. Both of them are delicious by their own rights, but being a belacan lover, the red sauce is my favorite.
Nearby landmarks for you to recognize being in the right place are Sek. Keb. Taman Tuanku Jaafar (1) ,7-Eleven, Asam Pedas stall, Burger Bakar stall,Nasi Lemak Ayam Pandan stall... Wow, I have a food haven right at my backyard!
So, fancy yourself some grilled fish?
