“Not much choice in Seremban - so stop searching and book”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

Unless you want to go 3 star and below - remember this is the sleepy town of Seremban and this is the best there is (it was once a Hilton Hotel). Alson Kelana is out of town and very jaded. I had issues booking on line (am still awaiting a refund). Was upgraded to Exec floor rooms- big, bright and comfortable if not luxe (accept for lovely Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries). The upgrade made the stay good value, otherwise the hotel lives on its monopoly position in the Seremban 4 star bracket and is pricy. Buffet breakfast was pretty comprehensive (Chinese, Malay and Indian selections and some limited European options albeit of lesser quality than the Asian food). We liked the authentic char-grilling for kaya toast and efficient made to order egg station. Service is well-meaning, but in no hurry. It's ok. Go to Seremban for the handful of specialty dishes - beef noodles, kok kok (fish ball etc) soup, great cendol/ice-kacang.

I quite liked this hotel, as I was upgraded to a room on the Executive Floor. The rooms and the bathroom attached was very large and spacious and it had a whole suite of amenities as well as Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries. Only problem is that the reception took v long to check us in and there was no place for us to wait or sit down as the whole process took about 20 minutes end to end. We requested an bed and it took about 4 hours for it to be sent up, after making about 5 phone calls. Breakfast was rather bland on the Executive Lounge with minimal choice.

Other than that, the room was nice and we got upgraded, maybe thats why it was extra nice. If Royale Bintang can make improvements to the Service and Breakfast on the 10th floor then it would have been even better.

I've uploaded some pics here.

The room (including the bathroom) is spacious, the beds are comfortable. We were fortunate to have a pool view.
When we checked in, we noticed there were no hand nor face towels.
Naturally, we called Housekeeping & made a request.
Later, we compared notes and realised that hand & face towels were not a standard item.
We were therefore pleasantly surprised when we got back to our room past midnight to find the hand & face towels.
A few of us sat at the "All That Jazz" lounge & enjoyed listening to group, I think "Sam's Trio".
For a 4-star hotel, the Buffet Breakfast spread was wide.

Room Tip: Ask for pool side view

Stayed at the Royal Bintang after a horrible night at Hotel Villa. It was a nice respite despite being 3 times the price at 120SGD/300MYR a night. Was what you expect from a good quality hotel, big lobby, swimming pool, nice breakfast, decent size room and bathroom, comfy bed. It is the only real 4 star hotel in Seremban so is no other choice, so price reflects that. So unless you want to slum it, stay here, its a safe bet as you wont get better in the area. Only negative is still using old CRT TV's, most hotels are using LCD TV's.

Came for business trip. The hotel was awesome, excellence service and the room was superb. I was falling in love with the room, seriously.... cant help myself to stay longer in the room til i skipped breakfast the next morning... ! Food just OK. The rest of it, superb.

Room Tip: every room is superb, no worries, but its better to choose a room a bit far from the elevator.

It's a nice hotel, so far the best in seremban. Quite pricey though. The tv is still from the '90's but the channels are alright, not many varieties. Well maintained eventhough it's an old hotel. Good for family since there's a nice pool and spa. Breakfast is quite nice. Overall, we're satisfied

Room Tip: Ask for a nice view, facing the pool.

Booked a room thru their website about a month before the trip last weekends. Been charged about RM45 to secure the booking. But when I called the hotel at 3pm that day (to inform that we were arriving late), the reservation can't seem to find my reservation! And worse part was - the hotel was fully booked for the weekends. But they were helpful in locating my reservation, which they did in the end.

There were also some confusion on the room rate during check-in. They quoted slightly higher $ compared to what we have booked. Thankfully, I had the confirmation email with me. My conclusion, the main problem was with the reservation system, not the staff. The staff there were very accomodating and helpful.

On a different note, couple of weeks before that, my family and I stayed at their executive room. Nothing much different from a deluxe room, the size was the same, except for bathroom's amenities set (from crabtree) and of course executive lounge buffet for 2. But, if you have kids, you still need to go down to the Coffee House..

Overall, the staff were great, pool was good (kids enjoyed the waterfall), bed were firm (very good for a person whos having back pain like me), and the food selection were also good.

Room Tip: Level 7 & 11 (executive floor) are fully non-smoking floors.
