Excellent nature hideout. Only tip for you is don't stay over on a Sunday as the staff are off and so you have to light up your own BBQ fire and wash up after cooking. Staff could be more friendly. Perfect for dogs.

As stated in our booking letter, the Dusun is a self-catering accommodation. Staff clean houses twice a day, including dishes, and go home at 7 pm, 6 days a week. On Sundays, most guests are happy to light their own BBQ so that staff can go home at 3pm to have some family time (we provide charcoal and starters). Our cook did light the BBQ for this guest after she was rude to me about it. The reason the staff were not too warm with this guest is because her dogs were repeatedly in the Patio kitchen, although I had explained to her that this kitchen is halal and the dogs made the staff very uncomfortable.

We had a lovely time at the Dusun for 3 nights in December. We received a friendly welcome from Helen after a long flight from Japan, and enjoyed the fantastic beef satay that we cooked over the BBQ on our verandah. The next day we went down to Serembam to the wet market to walk around and have lunch, then took a taxi back. We also took the bird walk one day and the jungle hike to the waterfall on another -- it's true there are leeches on the path, but that lends to the adventure and it's not a problem if you're covered up. A splash in the waterfall pool at the end is idyllic and refreshing.

The infinity pool is especially lovely after trekking around, and the patio a nice place to eat and talk out (bug spray necessary).

All the staff and family were gracious and helpful, and the food is fantastic. You can bring your own food or buy it at the market, but we choose to have them prepare our evening meals -- some really delicious dishes, and reasonably priced.

Would love to return in the future.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Emas house, which is up in the trees with a lovely view and open to the cooling bre...

We stayed at the Sora House over the past weekend (30/11 - 2/12).

From Singapore, we took the KTM train to Seremban. Then, we took taxis to The Dusun. There were six of us, so we needed two taxis. The drivers wanted RM40, and we were fine with it. However, we did not expect The Dusun to be so high up, so we ended up giving RM10 tips to each of them, spending a total of RM100. Upon arrival, Haanim greeted us and showed us our house. She then gave a short introduction of the place, adding that complimentary breakfast is served at 9am daily.

The Dusun is really high up in the mountains. The nearest town, Kampung Pantai, is approximately 10 minutes away by car, and you'll have to negotiate steep slopes, rough terrain and sharp bends. Furthermore, Kampung Pantai has only a few coffee shops and small shops which offer the basics. A really small town. Therefore, you should stock up EVERYTHING you need, including food and drinks. There is a refrigerator in the house, so make good use of it. If you need plain water, they've got a water dispenser in the house.

Overall, the service was great. Breakfast was delivered on time, stuff was tidied daily when we were out, staff were friendly, BBQ and dinner on the second evening was well-prepared. However, the cleanliness of the place could have been better. Dead insects were found around the place. Also, our rubbish bin, which was outside, was "attacked" by dogs every night. They'd sneak in through the small hole at the side, then search through our rubbish, leaving a mess behind. Rather disturbing.

Value wise, RM2000 for two nights, for such a simple, secluded place is kinda expensive. However, when converted to SGD, which is SGD800, it's quite ok, considering the fact that a villa in a Singapore resort costs more than SGD1000 per night. I'll stay here for one night only, if I ever return.

For families/big groups, if you're deciding between the Emas house and the Sora house, let me give some tips: The Sora house is nearer to the pool and more accessible, while the Emas house has a long flight of steps down a slope leading to it. However, the view from the Emas house is much better; you could see the whole valley during sunset. Therefore, I would definitely choose Emas the next time.

The Dusun is really a place to relax and unwind. You can pick the fruits around for free if you want. We picked and consumed 5 durians. Not a very suitable place if you need to go to town often or if you don't bring your own necessities.

Room Tip: Sora faces the east (morning sun), Emas has a brilliant evening view, Berembun is just next to the p...

Can't believe this gem of a place is only 1-hour away from KL. Though this place might not be everyone's cup of tea, we enjoyed our time here.

If you would like to get away from it all, then leave everything behind and head to Dusun for the perfect retreat.

My third visit to the Dusun and first time staying in Sora House. Booked Berembun as it was just me & my partner but was upgraded to Sora as there was construction going on at the patio. It was very considerate of Helen & kind of them to upgrade us with no additional fee. And the bonus point is we were the only one staying there in the entire resort, (perks of booking on a weekday).

Sora was just amazing.. It has a huge modern kitchen, an open view of the mountains at the living room, a toilet, an outdoor bath tub, a porch facing the mountains with a bbq pit, a huge master bedroom with an attached bathroom , and a loft that sleeps 4. The whole concept of Sora is modern with not forgetting the nature as an element. Bbq was lit at 6pm for it to be ready at 7pm.. We brought our own supply of food. They provide spices, oil, sauces, coffee & tea in the house for guests.

We swam at the infinity pool through the day & even at night with the moon shining brightly. Breakfast, (Nasi Lemak) was sent to our doorstep..

Will I come back again? Of course! We are already planning for a trip though it has not even a week since we were there.

Room Tip: Sora can fit about 5 people.. It would be a great house for parties..

We live in KL & had a fantastic weekend at The Dusun; was amazed how near and easy access it is from KL - such a good weekend escape. The layout of the pool & common eating / bbq area, with the different houses dotted around made the whole place very accommodating and homely. Each of the different houses all have their own charm. We stayed in the modern Japanese inspired house and loved it. Next time (and there will be a next time!) I would be keen to try the more traditional Malay style house (I can't remember the name): it seemed the most remote with stunning views over the forest, especially during sunset.
The BBQ The Dusun staff put on was first class: fish, chicken, veg - all delicious. We also brought our own snacks and drinks from KL; so it's easy to bring a coolbox and cater to your own needs.
We didn't explore the area around so much - will save that for the next trip. But to get away from KL; either with friends / family it really is a fantstic find and have already highly recommended it to friends, and will plan for our return.
