We went there recently and was completely blown away! Our friends stayed there in Berembun and we joined them for the day. We loved the place! The infinity pool is awesome with an excellent view. In fact, the entire place has magnificent views all around. We love the jungle trekking (i'm NOT talking about the ones where someone has cleared the path for you, made the leeches go away etc.. this is the REAL thing). The trek was not difficult enough to traumatize us but challenging enough to give us a good workout.
As with any UNTOUCHED virgin jungle, there will definitely be wildlife especially leeches. We had many many leeches latch on to us but we didn't mind as that contributed to the whole experience. The trick is, get them off you the moment you get one.. bring salt or lighter. If not, you will be bleeding for a while.
We saw many interesting plants and even saw a giant millipede. But the most rewarding experience was when we reached the waterfalls after the 1-1 1/2 hour trek. Cool pristine waters in refreshing jungle setting... cosy, yet exhilarating! We did not want to leave!
At night we went for the BBQ and brought our own meats as well as ordered some from the resort. I must say, the resort has the best salads (i normally dont like salads), potatoes, baked pumpkins and the kebabs are very delicious. The hotel staff started the fire for us, washed the dishes and did everything else. It was a private affair as we had the verandah all to ourselves. It was like having a hotel catered BBQ at your own home minus the preparation and cleaning. All you had to do was BBQ your food and enjoy the outdoors in the beautiful setting.
This resort prides itself in providing privacy for their guests. I liked the fact that since the chalets are built with open concepts (missing walls large open windows) security of the guests is paramount. So if you are not a registered guest, you will be considered an intruder.
That said, a word of advice: If your idea of the outdoors is leisurely walks in the park whilst staying mud-free and without leeches, do NOT go for the trek. But then you will be missing the amazing waterfalls. Even if you decide to just stay in your room and swim in the pool, this is still worth the money.
Only go to The Dusun for the tranquility of nature and some good healing relaxing time. DO NOT go if you want to party like it's 1999.
I only got 2 mosquito bites (and even those didnt itch) so I guess they are doing something about the mozzies. Oh, another thing: The hotel is eco-safe and eco-friendly from the soap to the pool water and everything in between. That's 10 stars in my book! All in all, it is a little bit of paradise.
