we stayed at Lees guesthouse not long ago and we really enjoyed it. There was four of us and we booked a suite, which had 3 double beds, private bathroom, fan and air conditioning. the guesthouse was very clean. mr lee was so helpful after he took us out for dinner when we arrived and picked us up again. the next day he took us to a number of places e.g took us to see how to make silk and how to make silver etc. we really enjoyd our day. He then helped us with our washing, booked us boat tickets and took us to pick up a meal as there was a storm. Every morning he provided us with breakfast which was whatever we wanted. We got all this for 4 pounds a night which was a very good price. We will reccomend lees guesthouse to all our family and freinds and will come back and visit his guesthouse again.

Mr Lee was very hospitable and accomodating. He met us at Wakaf Bharu station after a long overnight from KL drove us to his place and agreed that he would ferry us into town later on. His place is clean, comfortable and welcoming. Rooms have fan and AC. He drove us back from Kota Bharu that evening after we'd seen the puppet show and then arranged for a taxi to take us to Kuala Besut. The only downside is if you plan to spend the day looking round Kota Bharu - which is pretty bum (disappointing experience at the food market) - as his place is out of town and therefore a taxi ride away, so you can't just crash for an hour or two to kill time. Other than that good value stop off before hitting the islands.

We stayed one night at Lee Guest House (booked via email: leeguest@gmail.com) for 65 MYR for the night for a room with shared bathroom. The room was very basic and clean. There was a fan on the ceiling and an air conditioner that both worked well. The home is located a bit out of town in a residential area outside of the city but the owner will drop you off in the center of town. Mr. Lee was very friendly and seemed to really want his guests to have a nice stay. There is a satellite TV on the main floor and a couple of computers with free internet access as well. The breakfast (bread/toast, jam/peanut butter/nutella, cereal, juice, milk, etc) are also included. Our only complaint was there seemed to be some odd scratching noises coming from the ceiling during the night.

We've just got back from the weekend in Pulau Perhentian. Just before going there, we spent a night in Kota Bahru as we wanted to catch the earliest ferry to the islands.
I booked Mr. Lee's Guest House based on the recommendations from this website and I must say - they are all TRUE! Mr. Lee is very hospitable and picked us up from the airport when we arrived - he even took us for dinner at the nearby foodstalls before bringing us back.
Overall, the place is VERY CLEAN and he has 5 bedrooms - the biggest being able to acommodate 6 people comfortably (that's our room - with an attached bathroom). TV and cable channels (i.e. astro) is provided in the hall, together with high-speed internet access! The whole house is Wi-Fi enabled, and you can use his computers if you do not have one of your own.
I highly recommend this place and will definitely go back there again if I happen to be back in Kota Bahru.
