“A Good Pay for Great Night Sleep”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

After heavy travel for several days from Pahang until Kota Bahru, I managed to get myself to check in without online booking during weekend.

1) Front desk service is needed to be improved. This is because most of the time only one staff is on duty. From inquiry, registration to payment, all is done by the same staff. The processing time taken is more than 15 minutes, if there is other customers, I have to wait until the queue is cleared. Appreciate if the hotel can locate more staffs at front desk. But, they are friendly and ready to serve you. I manage to exchange coins for paying my parking fees from front desk. Also, one of the staff still remember me when I did my check-in for second time.

2) The location of hotel is great, since it is located at the Kota Bahru city centre. KB mall is located in front of the hotel. Many local restaurants such as chinese, chinese muslim, bakery, fast food are accessible within 5 minutes walking distance. KB mall has a supermarket (The Pacific), F&B restaurant, clothing shops, telecommunication shops, ATM, book store which are convenient for both travelers and locals. Places of interest such as Pasar Siti Khadijah, State Museum, War Museum, Tourism Centre, Cultural Art Gallery also can be reached within 5 to 10 minutes walking distance.

3) There are rooms available from second floor until ninth floor. Most of the rooms are with window. Elevator is available. Hayaki Cafe, a cafe opened for 24 hours is located at first floor. I have not tried their food due to convenient of getting local delicacies nearby hotel, included vegetarian food (restaurant named MStar Cafe).

4) Room is equipped with TV, air-conditioner, ceiling fan, hair dryer, individual bath room with hot water, safe box, working desk. The basic pay for room charges are not included TV channels, air-conditioner, toiletry sets, wireless connection. You may need to pay for each added items based on your needs. If you adapted to Malaysia's weather, I advise no add-on for air-conditioner service. Also, the TV channels available are limited in options such as Astro AXN, Astro AEC, Astro Fox Movie. In my opinion, it is not worth for paying to watch this. Wireless internet connectivity is another item that you need to pay either for 12 hours credit or 24 hours credit. Too bad, no drinking water (neither hot or cold), no coffee or tea provided in room. You need to get yourself from the supermarket in KB mall or a convenient shop (open lately around 9am) next to the hotel. A thumb up is given to their bed. You may not expect that the price you pay can get a good quality of the mattress. Cleanliness of bed linen is acceptable. But, I can spot some dirty area at the pillow cover.

In my opinion, it is good enough for both solo traveler and business trip attendant. If you are looking for more services, this is not the one you looking for.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your post stay review.

I particularly note your feedback about the check in waiting time and linen spots and I sincerely apologize that we have not met the standards you have come expect.

We have since revisited the front desk rooster and the housekeeping schedule to ensure these activities are carried out at optimum level. I'm glad your review came by and draws an insight of what we have fallen short in delivering great hospitality.

We appreciate you time and effort for writing to us. Thank you once again and we hope to see you soon.

Warm Regards,
Sharon De Silva - Customer Care Manager

We stayed here for one night and it couldn't end soon enough. Given it's a budget hotel for which we paid very little, I had very low expectations - nothing more than a a clean room. Clean it certainly was not. The mattress had HUGE blood stains on it which were clearly visible through the sheets, the duvet cover had large brown marks on it and the room stank like gym socks.

Don't do it.

Dear Guest,

Thanks for the review.

We appreciate your constructive comments and regret to hear that your stay was marred by the level of cleanliness; with dirty marks on the mattress and duvet. We sincerely apologize for this.

Our 3c's; comfort, cleanliness and convenience were not a complete equation during your recent visit, and I assure you that this is purely isolated. We have brought this to the attention of the housekeeping team for improvements.

Thank you for writing this review. We hope your future stays would be a much pleasant one.

This a typical Tune Hotel, not much service to speak of, unsmiling and unbending staff, charges for every little thing you can think of, (like temp storage of luggage, ice cubes) but the saving grace was perhaps its location.

Besides what I heard was the biggest mall in Kelantan, KB mall for additional convenience.

There's also a super convenient 24 hour restaurant on the 2nd floor, was it? You can't miss it anyway, but very reasonable food served at pretty acceptable prices. Most of the time again, staff were unsmiling nor were they very helpful but then again, I'm pretty ok as I well understand the kind of prices we're paying and its not the Ritz Carlton we're visiting. Be very careful of the perpetually oily floor though.

Taxis are pretty much non-existent in the area and as with a good number of areas in this country will rip tourists off at every given opportunity. Especially non-Malay speaking ones... So make sure you know your destination name and perhaps a rough idea of how much you should be paying before getting up one.

I'll possibly be back here again, but only just to sleep and for the location. You'll be hard pressed to go really wrong with a Tune hotel as well.

Dear Guest,

Thanks for the review.

We offer the basic; a comfortable bed and hot shower for a wonderful slumber experience, always located centrally, all at extremely affordable prices. Our rooms are space-challenged, but they're impeccably clean and perfectly adequate as "crash pads".

Our limited service concept encourages guests to spend less within the hotel itself, driving more spend outside the hotel.

Keeping things clean, comfy and compact helps in regulating affordable pricing, thus, translating them to saving for guests.

Thank you so much for the feedback and we happy to be part of making your stay a worthwhile experience.

See you soon.

Very impressed with the hotel though it was rather short and sweet. we checked in on the 4th of October at 2.00pm and checked out at 11am on the 5th of October 2013. The room was good with claen sheets and a clean towel. the room was clean and the bathroom was clean too. The reception was attractive a and the people at the reception very kind and friendli indee. M we had booked 3 rooms for my family very economical and was good beyond our expectations.... considering the low rate we had to pay. A 5 star experince . and great value for my money....

Room Tip: all the 3 rooms we had was good so I really cant pick one to recommend

Okay, the rates are quite low and you can pay for what you need, but the hotel appeared to be a bit more run down than expected. Not that clean, and not that new anymore, it was a bit of a disappointment for me considering it's the number 1 hotel in KB.
I read some comments that the staff is horrible, but I think they were alright. They were helpful with every question I asked them, but clearly you don't need to expect anything more than that.

Great Value for money if you book online during the promotion. Need to pay a little extra for the Towels, TV, aircon and wifi. The bed was large and comfortable with a new flat screen TV opposite, and the bathroom was clean. We had a good sleep and would definitely recommend to friends and family members. Location wise is superb. Everthing is just walking distance....KB Mall (shopping), Temple and Restaurants. Tesco is also very close. The staffs are very polite and helpful.
