During our recent visit to the Datai we visited this restaurant many times. Definitely improved since moving to the Datai rainforest instead of belonging to the Andaman. The restaurant is a delight to sit in amongst the trees and cicadas, waiting in hope to spot the wild boar or flying squirrels.
The fish counter is an excellent addition, allowing you to select your fish, then discuss with your waiter and chef which way is best to serve, and of course, enjoy.
We tried a whole array of flavours during our many visits, with the fish in turmeric sauce definitely the highlight! The service is impeccable with extremely attentive staff. They made our experiences extra special. There is also the addition of the complimentary dessert table, showing off various indian and Malay desserts and fruit.
On our last night we were even presented with a coconut pudding recipe that one of the regular staff, Agus, had kindly typed out. We are now looking forward to preparing our own at home. I just hope its as nice.
This restaurant houses indian and Malay food and is definitely worth a visit at least once, if not 2 or 3 times during your stay.
