“Mangrove boat tour- discovering the beauty of nature”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

After looking at the reviews on tripadvisor, me and my husband decided to include Dev's mangrove boat tour in our itinerary of langkawi trip. Although as a Malaysian, I have seen bats and snake before, mangrove and eagle were totally new to me. Observing nature close up from the speed boat was truly amazing. Our guide, Shuhada wais very friendly, knowledgeable and humorous. She was very patient as well. When she spotted something interesting, she would stop the speedboat and allowed us time to observe it. No rushed feeling througout the trip. We were brought to a secluded beach in a island to swim. Breathtaking view from there. We were taken to plant some mangrove trees at the end of the tour. Dev's adventure tour is definitely doing their part in protecting the nature and wildlife. A really great experince! Highly recommended for malaysians and non-malaysians.

“Kayaking the mangroves - a great experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

We booked in to do the Mangrove Kayaking with Dev's Adventure Tours during our trip to Langkawi in May. The company arranged for a shuttle to pick us up from our hotel which was nice as the location is a bit out the way. The whole trip takes about 5-6 hours.

We went on a speedboat to the bat caves and our guide Jerome spoke a lot about different wildlife on Langkawi including lizards and the monkeys which was interesting. I liked his enthusiasm for nature preservation.

We stopped off before the kayaking to a restaurant called 'Hole in the Wall' which is also a fish farm. We didn't really know what to expect with regards to the fish farm, but became pretty appalled when we saw what it was. Small netted enclosures overpopulated with huge fish seemed cruel and just a money making exercise? They pulled a puffer fish out of the water to show how it expands as a defence mechanism. There is an opportunity to feed the stingray but the whole thing didn't feel very nice so we didn't partake. Jerome distanced himself from this activity as he didn't seem to be supportive of the farm. We felt that it detracted from a day with such a nature-friendly theme.

The mangrove kayaking was fantastic. The intensity level was perfect - a bit of good steering and ducking required and a bit of hard paddling against the wind at the end. Definitely manageable for the majority of people. Jerome was attentive and informative throughout the trip.

We had lunch at the Hole in the Wall floating restaurant which was OK. Pretty plain tasting fried rice with the option of vege, prawn or chicken plus a spicy soup which was quite nice. The company provides two bottles of water per person.

Would definitely recommend this as it was one of the stand-out activities from our trip to Langkawi. Don't forget your sun cream and insect repellent!

“Kayak in the Mangrove - something you'll never forget”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

It was a sudden trip to Langkawi so I couldn't book earlier. However, Dev's tours were accomodative and they took me on a half hour's notice. The trip starts at around 10. We were first taken to the Bat cave through a boat. Jerome, our guide, was very knowledgeable and obviously quite enthusiastic about the Eco-system. We were then taken to the floating restaurant which frankly isn't so fancy as it sounds. However, the real deal started thereafter. We started our Kayaking from here. It was my first time and there was constant rain as well. However, learning how to kayak is quite easy actually. So no need to worry about that.

The kayaking through the river Kilim and then through the mangrove forest was absolutely amazing, though the mangrove bit a bit tricky for first timers. We even saw vipers just feets away from us. Felt like I was part of a NatGeo program or something. I also loved how Dev's adventure tries to protect the Ecosystem as much as possible.

All in all, an experience to remember.

Excellent option for a tour in Langkawi! Did the Mangrove Boat Trip and had a wonderful time. Very friendly and knowledgeable guide who obviously knew a lot and cared about Langkawi's beautiful nature and wildlife. Learned how to spot snakes, visited a bat cave with hundreds of bats, watched the eagles (did not feed them - good!!) had a great boat trip and stopped at a place for swimming - no one else than our little group of 6 people around for almost the whole trip! Also got lunch at a charming floating restaurant and visited their fish farm.

I would recommend Dev's adventure tours to anyone visiting Langkawi!
