“Shop, Shop, Shop!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

Good place to shop at the duty free shops and collect some memorabilia. Also has a few good eating options. Go here when you head out for the Cable Car

“Badly maintained, stinking cafes and bad toilets.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014

Dont bother with this place and go straight to the cable car. The cafes are dirty and sell overpriced drinks, better go to Cenang for your drinks or bring your own. The shops sell typical junk tousristry stuff .

This place would be OK it was clean and well maintained, but it is not. The problem with Malaysia is they build stuff but never think about maintaining it. Plus a fresh coat of paint woul do wonders to this place too.

“Visit if you are staying nearby or visiting Langkawi Cable Car”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

My observation on this place -

1. There is no need to keep this place in your itinerary unless you are staying nearby (like we did, in Berjaya), or visiting Langkawi Cable Car.

2. If you are staying nearby, you can visit this place for -

a) picking up cheap alcohol, tobacco, water. Maggi etc. from a Duty Free Shop.
b) picking up Souvenir.
c) trying to find some cheaper eating options.
d) a walk in a park / mall, a neat and clean one.
e) some casual shopping (typical touristy stuff), though not a lot of options.
f) a quick and cheaper massage.
g) killing some free time.

3. If you are visiting the Cable Car, and have some free time, you can walk through this place, and see if anything there interests you. You already know what to expect there.

“I will visit this attraction only once”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

No, that is not exactly true. When I want to have a ride with the cable car up the mountain (a 5 point experience by the way) I have to visit the Oriental Village, because the cable car station is located in the middle of it. However, the Oriental Village itself merits in my opinion only one visit. Granted, it is laid out nicely and it is clean and neat with a nice lake, spanned with bridges (see pictures), but the nice buildings are given over to souvenir shops, tax free shops and expensive restaurants, except for the food court, where tasty dishes can be had for a reasonable price. Ample parking is provided in case you drive a rental car.

“Great duty free alcohol but that's about it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

The Zon Duty Free inside the Village has ridiculously cheap alcohol (1L bottle of Absolut for 40 MYR!!!) and is also a great place to pick up snacks and bottled water if you are staying at the Berjaya like we did. There are plenty of shops selling the same things (hats, fake sunglasses, tshirts, sarongs) so will only keep you occupied the first time you visit.

Unless you are staying nearby or plan to ride the cable cars, then save your time and taxi fare and don't bother.

The reflexology massage inside the Fish Spa massage place is highly recommended - even better than all the foot massages I've had in Thailand as they really do get right into all the pressure points. 45 MYR for 30 mins - great value!

There are a few miserable foods outlets here but only if you are already in the village and starving, else go somewhere else.
