“Overpriced and poor service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

Pros: The rooms and the food are ok. And that's about it. They seriously should think about either cutting down on the price or improving their service. For the same price, you can do much better on Langkawi. Also, the hotel is geared towards the Muslim community, which is not really a problem, but it means no alcohol (at least we got a headshake when asking for alcoholic drinks). The pool is tiny, more like a bathtub, and the beach looks dodgy. The wifi sucks, we're not in the 80s anymore, seriously! Better go somewhere else to enjoy yourself.

Stayed here on my honeymoon..

Pros:
+ excellent room with good bed and bath tub.

+kitchen included.

+ excellent swimming pool with sea view.

+ variety of options on breakfast

+ candle light romantic dinner arranged very perfectly ( had a good communication with the chef to get what I want )

+ airport is very close by. They do provide airport transfer.

+ excellent location for photo shoot in the evening.

Cons-
- reception guys made me wait for 20 mints to let me check-in with a simple process.

- couldn't latch the door from inside; need to call up 2,3 times to get the service guy. Finally, service guy told me not to worry as if I just lock the door, none can open from out even if latch is put from inside.

- very very poor Wi-Fi at the room.

- for welcome drink and breakfast - coupon will be provided, which in my view shouldn't be given in 4* category resorts.

-late pick up with carry all cars. Need to wait..

Note-
You can directly speak to the chef to get your style of food/taste.

If you're a couple on your honeymoon and want a private balcony with sea view and the room itself on the sea called as sea village.
Please ask for room no 576.

Family of four stayed here for four nights. The area was very nice but the room we had was in their big building and although clean and very spacious had the smell of mold in it.

They have a nice pool but the lagoon is very shallow and muddy and not ment for swimming.

You can't buy alcoholic beverages from any of the restaurants or the nearby minimall. The food was very good.

Reception staff were rude and not very hospitable. Made us wait around without even acknowledging we were there. All staff in general rude or incompetent.
Our villa overlooking the water was FILTHY. The bathroom was full of mould and floors looked like they hadn't been done. Cobwebs everywhere. Service was of a very poor standard and no-body seemed to care that we sat around waiting to order for what seemed like a long time.
Free WI-FI as advertised hardly works and is very slow if it even worked at all.
Will never go back and would not recommend this place to any-one.

Room Tip: Do Not Stay Here. You will be dissapointed

1) Delay at Check in: We arrived at 12, and we were made to wait a couple of hours. The staff at the reception were rude and definitely not trained in hospitality!
2) Payment before check-in: We were allocated a villa that was owned by another "owner" and not by the hotel, but was in the same hotel. We had to make our payment for the rooms before checking-in and received continuous calls through the morning to check when we will be checking in (in other words when we will be making the payment!)
3) We arrived from our sight-seeing at around 10PM at night. The room service took 1.5 hours. When asked why the delay, the response was "We are busy, there is another dinner we are organizing tonight!". We were shell-shocked!
4) The Villa was called a sea-villa but faced the land, not the sea. We had view of filthy sand and marshy, mossy, dirty puddles of water. The phones and electricity sockets in the rooms didn't work
5) Restaurant staff were EXTREMELY RUDE, to the extent that they started clearing breakfast, while we were serving food in our plates. They were not open to taking feedback.
6) The wi-fi sucked just like everything else in the hotel

Room Tip: No Tip, since all the rooms sucked.

I was always apprehensive about this resort on account of other reviews on tripadvisor. However, just thought of giving this a try because of the promotional price..! Was thoroughly disappointed, to say the least!

By no standards, lagoon can be called a 5 star resort...outdated rooms, non-modern washrooms, filthy sea and the list just goes on...Couldn't see one person on its beach...One has to pay 20 bucks one way to reach chenang beach for a swim..

The only positive was the breakfast, which was indeed quite elaborate. The servers should however be taught some courtesy towards guests.

Overall, a bad experience... Am never returning here!!

We called around 12pm before we arrived and was told our room was ready for check-in, only to arrive at the Reception and told to wait after 3pm for check-in time. I was a little annoyed with this as we had initially planned to go for round the island visit if not for the miscommunication. While registering, we confirmed with the receptionists on our room no., specifically told them no ground floor room as I am a light sleeper, and they even pointed out to us which was going to be our room to reassure us. We asked if there is any room facing the sea instead of the main building, and was told none and the ones facing the other side is not as good, so we gladly accepted the arrangement.

We decided to try out their buffet while waiting and to be honest, food was quite average from what we paid. After lunch, we had to wait for another 2 hours and only got the room at 3pm on the dot. Before leaving in the buggy, we were issued with a room no. different from what was told, we asked the receptionist which side is it facing and she blankly told us '' I don't know''. and proceeded to ignore us. We went on the buggy only to arrive to a room on ground floor and the key was not functioning and had to go back to the lobby.

When questioned, they simply told us, since we wanted to check in earlier, they had to give us whichever room that is available. It would have been no issue, but at least have the courtesy to ask us and let us decide to wait or to take the room. After complaining, the staff made faces and were going to make snide remarks when one colleague pointed out that I was able to understand them in Malay did they contain it. It was totally unacceptable as it was not our mistakes to begin with. They lack proper communication between themselves and created all the hassle for us yet we, the customers are blamed for their inefficiency. They issued us with another room within 2 mins without any hassle, 2nd floor and with very nice sea view (contrary to what we were told). The irony of it speaks for itself.

Room is a tad old but in good condition, just needs some refurbishments and maintenance as the A/C and lights weren't working well. We would have rated Poor but our stay was brightened up with the nice view of the room, pools, good breakfast selections and the ever friendly and smiling houskeepers and buggy drivers that greeted us, something the receptionists failed terribly at.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the sea, not the main building.
