I didn't come here expecting to be pampered and have the time of my life... for that you're going to have to pay AUD$300+ at one of the top end resorts on the island. Malaysia isn't as dirt cheap as other countries! So with that in mind I still had a lovely time here and enjoyed the resort and its facilities.
I had a garden facing villa which is a villa that still faces the ocean but behind the two rows of 'sea facing villas' which was fine. There's a little veranda to sit on and a tap for washing your feet before you go in. Room was a great size and so was the bathroom. The outdoor shower was fun, thought there would be a lot of mosquitoes but didn't really turn out to be the case phew! No bites while showering.
A few TV channels to watch (although BBC news was kaput when I was there), a brolly, a clothes drying rack, a mini couch, table etc. Was quite happy with the room. The sheets and towels were a little worn, bit less fluffy but was fine. You probably didn't want to use the slippers or robe they were not very nice (but I didn't need them so it was fine).
Two pools, the chlorine pool was busier because it was next to the bar and it was nice to lounge around and have food and drinks served at your chair. Pool towels provided although it was a bit strange as the towel shack had a break from 5-6pm so if you wanted towels during that time TOO BAD. Not sure why they can't get other staff to cover that time?
Gym looked ok but was completely unconditioned so I imagine only crazy people would want to use it ;)
Breakfast was a buffet, not the best buffet I've seen but enough variety (changes every day) and items to fill breakfast every day without getting bored. Opens nice and early at 7.30 which is good if you're getting picked up for a tour at 8!
There's also an activity area with table tennis and books (and uncomfortable chairs to sit on) and a tour centre (not the best prices but certainly convenient). Kid's activities planned most days as well which is great. Didn't go to spa because prices were a bit $$$, you can get cheaper treatments just outside.
Highly recommend the walks they give every day so you get a chance to see the green credentials. What they do here is excellent and more resorts should consider their impact on the environment.
So what are the CONS?
Well the lack of wifi in most areas was a bit of a pain. Even in areas where you can get it sometimes it was very flaky and not work for hours! Also the best area was the lobby and waiting area but this area gets VERY hot and stuff with no air con (or sea breeze).
The absolute WORST part of staying here were unfortunately ... the staff and service. They actually weren't very attentive or pleasant for the most part. No smiles, no hellos, and my biggest bugbear, if you were waiting for them they would TOTALLY IGNORE YOU. So if you're left waiting for 15 minutes because they're dealing with someone else they would ignore you and not even acknowledge you were waiting. A simple 'please wait, I'll be with you as soon as possible' would be nice, but instead you just felt.. ignored! It took an AGE to get anything sorted, such as drinks served, checked in or out etc. Sometimes reception was completely empty and you have no idea where any staff have gone, no bell, no sign or anything...
This meant I took one star off BUT otherwise it was a nice stay and I do recommend it... just wish it could have been even better if the staff were a bit more lovely! Not everyone was like this, the eco staff (ones looking after the green practices) were nice and I think the owner walked around and talked to people and he was REALLY lovely!

We are earnestly in a dire predicament to wait for our vendor to supply the parts that affected the only BBC channel which are unavailable in the Langkawi Island, while various options for a wider Wi-Fi coverage is being pursued.
Handling human resources are one of the most challenging aspects to muster and no amount of training will suffice if it only takes one staff not to toe the line. Be rest assured that remedial action is being taken in no uncertain terms for fault offenders. Besides, staff training is an ongoing process which is being looked into with earnesty.
