“Nicely done”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

Good layout, wide selection of sea life, loved the penguins. Some interesting facts too. Shop and cafe right in the middle is a little surprising, you think you are finished the tour then it goes on again. Quite well done.

“Informative and much better than I expected.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

The Underwater World is basically an aquarium with some animals and birds to view as well. It features themed sections such as tropical rainforest, temperate climates and a subarctic section.
It was a nice chance to escape from the afternoon heat into the cool air conditioned building - although there were some outdoor sections as well, but they had shady tropical trees and water features.
Basically I was quite impressed. I found the displays informative and that facilities such as the rest rooms and the restaurant were clean and well run.
The most striking and popular features were the various penguins - straight out of "Happy Feet" and the beautiful ribbon jellyfish and corals.
On a worldwide basis this is probably not in the top ten of aquariums but the entrance fee was reasonable and I found it to be a pleasant outing.

“Well worth a visit.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

We had to wait around 10 minutes to purchase our entry tickets although there were only a few people in the queue ahead of us, the ticket office staff just didn't seem very efficient.

However, the wait was worth it. The penguins and marmoset monkeys were highly entertaining. The displays were all very good and clean, the animals and fish all looked to be in excellent health which is always a concern to me when animals are in captivity.

“Too much hype, too little to show !”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

Unless you need a place to get away from the hot weather or the rain, and to give your children something to do, please do not waste time and money going there.

Firstly, can get too crowded, especailly during Malaysian school holoiday periods (think group tours, big crowds wanting to see the penguins, etc.).

Secondly, the sea creatures available for viewing are few and far in between - at least when we were there. Some seals, penguins, a pair of sharks are - in my opinion - the only attraction worth seeing. It is a pity that the Government and Tourist authorities lack the foresight to grow this into a major tourist and tourist dollar generating attraction.

Thirdly, though the fees are not so exorbitant for foreign / "farang" visitors, they are expensive for what they are offering.
