Picking May which is out of season surely makes staying in Langkawi memorable.
The attention one gets in the resorts is second to none.
We had a fantastic time, service was excellent, weather was very good, we had the occasional downpour but that's to be expected in May.

Room Tip: The beach villas are the pick of the place.

Firstly, if you are considering the Datai, then I can tell you the Datai was good, but overall the Four Season's property was wow and we got a lot more experience at the F.S.

Here are some notes to add to the other reviews...

If you go for the the lower pavillion you have the entire lawn area infront of you. We had in room dining on many occasions and had the table set up on the lawn infront of our pavillion. It was lovely dining under the trees.

Do check out the spa even if you are not doing treatment. It's a very tranquil area and they allow guests to relax in the 3 gazebos and lounge area inside - even if you not doing a treatment.

The adults only pool is much nicer than the family pool. In the adults only pool area, there are little private enclosures with 2 deck chairs in each. It's free to use even though there was a sign there saying chargable. When I asked, they said that's only if you wanted a personal butler to attend to you.

The beach view at the Tanjung Rhu Resort next door is much nicer than the Four Seasons beach view - fact. Go there for a dinner to catch the sunset.

regarding the cement factory that everyone mentions on tripadvisor ...the beach was so long, and the cement factory was so far away so not a problem.

I highly recommend the sunset dinner on the beach in a private tent. Expensive, good food and a very memorable experience.

The family/kids pool is a weird layout. The pool seating area feels like they have crammed as many deck chairs as possible into this small area. Not quite a Four Seasons feel. Only a small part of this pool is 50cm deep, the rest is 1.5m deep which is not really suitable for kids without arm bands. They did have beach balls and swimming rings in the family pool for guests to play with.

If you are considering a booking a beach villa then here's our experience:
Upon check in they offered us the beach villa at a heavily discounted rate than advertised on the website. (I wondered if this is how they market it to the other TA reviewers who reviewed the beach villas). So we decided to check it out first...truly amazing like everyone says...took some photos and after a bit of haggling, we decided we didnt want to spend any more than what we paid for the lower pavillion.

Food - breakfast buffet quality and choice was good but not great. I was expecting a bit more for the Four Seasons standard. Also too many flies.
We dined at other restaurants too. All the reviews I read are right - over priced and only ok food. Best value at the resort was in room dining...and of that the kids meals were the healthiest! Generous portion (except the pizza), simple with steamed vegetables. I got one for myself too.

Kids club was great.. one of the best we've come across at 5 star establishments. even though it was just my daughter there, staff still made her feel very welcomed and gave her attention. Mum or Dad stayed with her so we did the activities together.

Overall this resort scores 4/5 for us because the food prices are very overpriced even for 5 star hotel standards. Sadly it isn't amazing food to match. Also it's about 30 mins drive to the nearest town so we did not bother venturing out except to the resort next door.

Afternoon tea at the four seasons. Japanese snacks with drinks, great service, good sea view, nice decor. Rainy day, cart person very helpful, doorman with passion. Location very far away, difficult to get out to town which is very inconvenient, but the beach is marvelous

Room Tip: If you don't want t be seen , and you don't wan to see anyone, choose this hotel

What an amazing property that can only be described as stunning. If your reading this and thinking about spending the little extra, do it! You won't be sorry. Pick any facet of this property and the answer is amazing. Rooms - amazing, pools - amazing. Rather than bore you with that let's talk about what to do there. You must do the nature safari. If you don't, you will miss out on one if the best experiences of your life. You feel like David Attenborough! and you will see some of the most interesting wildlife you are ever likely to see. Summary; go to Langkawi and stay at the Four Seasons. You will love it!

The resort is as beautiful and amazing as the previous reviews and the pictures on the hotel website. The staff is exemplary and the facilities are really outstanding. The restaurants whilst expensive, serve fantastic food and the dinner in a Rajasthani tent by the beach is truly a memorable experience.
Our kids enjoyed the kids club although it was very quiet when we were there with only a handful of other kids present.
This is our first stay at a Four Seasons property and it will not be our last!

We were looking for a stop over on the way back from a 6 week sight seeing trip to Europe. Having stopped in Malaysia many times we opted this time to take a short extra hop to Langkawi and stay at the Four Seasons resort. Our aim being for total relaxation at a beach resort and a little romance in a peaceful and tranquil venue with 5 start service. We were not disappointed. We were met at the airport by the hotel car and refreshed with cool towels and ice cold water while we took the short trip to the resort. On arrival the reception stay were very polite and quickly checked us in and we were driven (in a golf cart) to our villa. After being shown where everything was we were left in peace to enjoy our beautiful room and the beautiful sea view. Over the next five days we spent a fair bit of time at the adult only pool (well away from families at the other end of the resort, we enjoyed many a cocktail and loved the restaurants. The specially printed news sheets for each county were a nice touch each morning at Breakfast. Although the resort was meeting all our needs, one evening we decided to venture into the local village and the hotel staff arranged for us to book a taxi (as our car) for three hours and suggested a local seafood restaurant to dine in. This restaurant was superb and so cheap. Lots of different seafood courses and several tiger beers later our taxi driver took us back to the hotel and shared his life story with us, which we thoroughly enjoyed. A highlight of the stay was the romantic dinner for two with our own personal waitress, dining under a gazebo on the beach while the sun set and the waves lapped the shore. Everywhere we went in the resort and everything we did was met with the absolute best service, making our stay most memorable. While we walked to most locations in the resort (the only exercise we needed), we were always offered a golf buggy ride if we need one. We were indeed sad to leave at the end of our stay, but know that we will return someday to experience this luxury again. Thank you Four Seasons.
