Arrival
When we got there they were there smiling and so welcome they gave us a tour of the resort on the golf buggie and my kids loved it then they offered us bikes of coarse we said yes they staff all ready new our names within 20 mins of us being there
Rooms
When we went inside our rooms it was incredible on the kids beds they had placed little monkey toys which my children adored and the had fresh fruit laid out and out side was a (real) monkey trying to get into our room my daughter loved him and called him lankie (after lankawie)
Kids club
My kids absolutely loved the kids club I couldn't get my kids out which was good in a way so I could spend some time with my husband but they loved the staff which worked at the kids club and loved the activities one day my girl got hana(traditional tattoo(fake)) and it was so beautiful
When it was time to go my kids cried because they didn't want to go

I couldn't find one thing that I didn't like about this resort... firstly it's absolutely breath-takingly beautiful, the beach villa that we stayed in was like a palace, huge, airy, comfy, luxurious... private pool, terrace with day bed, hammock and sun loungers!

When we did eventually decide to leave the room, we were right next door to Kelapa Grill where we had lunch every day because the food and service were exceptional. Fresh fish, grilled to perfection, colourful, fresh and flavoursome salads, varied menu, just delicious!
The other restaurants we tried - Ikan Ikan (Malaysian) and Serai (buffet) were also fantastic, although the dinner menu in Ikan Ikan was a little on the expensive side for what you get! Rhu bar also had really lovely cocktails, great place to watch the sun set.
One night we had the in-villa private BBQ and bonfire. A team arrived to set up a private BBQ on our terrace, and a little bonfire pit on the beach outside, it was THE most romantic beautiful setting possible, they thought of everything and looked after us so well.

The spa is amazing with the most helpful staff who took their time to explain the different treatments available so we could pick exactly the right one for us. the atmosphere is completely relaxing and serene.

The two pool areas are also stunning, the main pool has loads of different pool areas so you can pretty much find your own private pool all the time! the adult pool has one long pool, lined with 'booths' with sun loungers in so you have complete privacy, it's fab, and the staff are on hand to fill up your glass with cold water, beer, cocktails or whatever you need.

I would recommend making use of the excursions and day trips on offer, we did the mangroves by Kayak tour and it was fab. Our guide was so knowledgeable and kept us fascinated with all the details about the mangroves and the wildlife that live there. for a novice kayaker, it wasn't particularly difficult either!

I would definitely recommend the Four Seasons if you want LUXURY, to be completely pampered, eat delicious food and chill out. it's not a crazy family resort, there were no kids around, it's just the place you go to get away from everything and be spoilt!

a shame that a 4 Seasons cannot keep up its customary standards one is used to from this hotel chain. We stayed 9 days and graciously were upgraded to a Beach Villa upon arrival. The Hotel stands alone amidst a beautiful landscape, full private beach front and view. Tasteful interior and I suspect the Pavillons are equally nice and suffice. After 9 days of stay, let me recap and start with the negative... the positive outweighs at the end:
in need of improvement:
- food: lousy food and service at Ikan-Ikan Restaurant. Half raw and tasteless, almost no vegetarian choice, service terrible, terrible. Breakfast buffet was a very big disappointment, quality and presentation wise: Western breakfast variety for the health oriented guest almost non existent. One big pot of Yoghurt (plain) every day. Fruits presented in a non-attractive way and staff repeatedly sneezing over it (turned me off for the rest of the week). For bread and pastry lovers it offered a good variety but not everybody is into breads and pastry. NO healthy cereal! All out of the box (Cornflakes style, Choco Pops or similar!) - I think I remember four different sugar, processed cereals. A tired looking so called Bircher Muesli with the spoon disappearing and not looking really appealing and presented in an unhygienic way. Dishes dirty, almost always something missing (eg. butter). Juice sortiment = sugary stuff. Had to order fresh juice separately. I must say we were really disappointed by the buffet. Asian fare plenty but not everyone is into Somosas and fried potatoes for breakfast. No delicate fare you would experience in other places in that category (eg. Nam Hai, The Legian, Four Seasons Ubud etc.)The huge disappointment was the service: Staff standing around lost what and how to do it. It looked like there was serious supervisory and training missing. Mrs. Nabila was the only exception. Very professional lady.
Grill Restaurant - the only place you can really have good service. Louis Stacher, Mrs. Ramaidah and Aszmi Ahmad full professional, service oriented and keeping the place running, albeit very busy. (there was one more guy but sorry, dont have his name). Food was good with a bit on the heavy side. We enjoyed the place.
- Bed! what a nightmare: we had two different villas due to a technical problem which forced us to change. However both beds were a nightmare: fully worn out. Now I am not particular heavy (47kg) but sank in like a stone, in both places. We had one week of very bad sleep, cranky in the morning.
- Insects: now I know we are in the tropics and I am actually am living at home in a tropical country. However, the bathroom and wardrobe was so full of ants on a constant stream, that we had to move everything to the writing desk as all our stuff (toothbrushes was sprayed with Baygon apparently by accident judging from the taste). Pretty annoying as we had to walk back and forth beetween both rooms. The walk-in-room full of ants..., so was the suitcase.
Reservations: unreliable Reception (Concierge). Except one - no Restaurant reservations all week were followed. For buggy service you had to call again (the first one lost in space). This happened every time.
We shook our head after check out. No smile, no goodbye. Hello?



Pros:
- Landscape, simply beautiful
- Gym/Tennis/Watersport Place - Perfect. Clean, very well attended, latest gear and well maintained. Very friendly staff. We used it almost every day. Thumbs up!
- Spa - very nice setting. Complicatd menu (packages) though, expensive. Well trained staff. Out of 4 massages, 3 were very good, one therapist took a "short cut". (We regularly have massages so I think we are able to judge - a bit dissappointing for what is costs.)
- most impressive Mangrove tour. The two tour guys were really specialists and we enjoyed every minute of it. Highly recommended.
-I am aware that we are critizising at a very high level. So is the reputation of the Four Seasons. We experienced up to par service at other Four Seasons Hotels and are therefore truly puzzled. Very grateful for the upgrade when we checked in but after 9 days feel irritated in terms of bad sleep and are truly puzzled by the experience overall. After all we spent quite a bit of money and were hoping for a restful week. It was very relaxing and truly exceptional beautiful resort but we feel we have not had received value for money. Living next door to Malaysia it would be a wonderful place to return for weekends or so but unless Management is walking the grounds and is visible (which it was not once! most importantly a total lack of F&B Management!) we cannot get ourselves around to return nor recommend it for friends and business relations. If most essentials improve, it truly deserves a 5 star. One expects nothing less from a Four Seasons!

Beautiful and luxurious - you don't need to leave your villa!

They're also very thoughtful. We went there with our baby and they prepared everything - from cot to tub and even toiletries (including diapers)!

Room service food is good you don't have to go to their restaurants - although ambiance there is also nice. Breakfast buffet is lousy with western food so stick with the local fare :)
