“Stayed on the sea - first time ever.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

My wife and I stayed in one of the Premier Chalets on Water. It was a superb experience, It is a huge poperty. Our chalet was almost at the end. We needed a shuttle bus to go to the main are - beach and pool. This was a bit painful as we had to wait on the road for sometimes 10 mints to get one. It was not possible for us, senior citizens, to walk the long distance with its ups and downs in the heat. I wish they were more organised in this aspect. Otherwise, the private beach, the pool and the chalets jutting into the sea - were wonderful The staff was also very cheerful and pleasant.
Our favourite holiday location is a pool villa at the Banyan Tree resort in Phuket. But this resort is no inferior.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a clear ocean view- premier Chalet on Water, Suites on Water or even the chalets...

My wife and I stayed here for seven nights in a sea view chalet towards the top of the rainforest.
We booked here despite some negative comments. Glad we did, we both had the most relaxing holiday here, thanks to the awesome pool area.
We were lucky enough to get a single chalet with a big sea view and it didn't disappoint.
A total "must do" is the free nature night walk around the resort. I'm not going into details, surprise yourself.
Good tasty food at all restaurants, wish we'd had another night to do the Phan Thai restaurant again.
The complimentary shuttle was prompt and unobtrusive.
We had no problems with Monkeys. Plenty of wildlife too see.
We hired a car for a half day rate just to see the waterfalls, actually got too do a lap of the island to get a taste. We'd go and stay at Berjaya again after looking around.
Enjoy your trip.

Room Tip: Go for room 3204 or a sea chalet close to the pool.

Overall is satisfactory for a short getaway, prefer the bed to be softer though.

Went in May 13 with my partner, location is bit isolated. The chalet looks fantastic, try the Thai restaurant there. The restaurant is on the water, nice ambience and food is fair enough.

The service is satisfying, just find the bed a little tough.

I tried their private beach, I have enjoyed both the beach and the swimming pool.

I have also tried their spa, only 1 mth old, very nice and enjoyable for couples' retreat!

There is no denying this place is BIG, so if that is not your thing- do not go! there are some 800 rooms, and you need to be ferried about by shuttle bus.
However, the benefits of this are the excellent pool, good dining options, great staff, and location. The cabins are very well spaced out, so you do get a sense of privacy, and it means that even though it is big, you don't feel on top of other bit.
Overall we had a very comfortable stay, and would recommend to others.
Our top tip is to make sure you book a cabin in walking distance of the main lobby- much easier just to be able to wonder up. Although we were a couple, I think this would be a great option for kids- it looked very family friendly.

Sorry for posting this review too late.
I visit langkawi in medical conference with other doctors and we stayed at Berjaya resort for 3 days.
This resort is located bang on beach on a slope of a big mountain and resort spreads in a huge area.
The cottages on the beach side has wonderful sea view and cottages in rain forest have views of wild jungle.
Rooms are beautiful and with all modern facility.
This is once in life time experience. I will be back here with family again soon.

We stayed for 4 nights for our honeymoon and we were not disappointed.

From the moment we arrived, the service was spectacular. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and happy to help us no matter what the request. We booked through Flight Centre so got a special "myTime" service with dedicated staff at the front desk to help us with booking excursions, restaurants etc. - if you can book through them and get this extra do it because it was great!

The food at the majority of the restaurants was great - we especially love the Japanese restaurant's food and the location of the Thai restaurant. The dinner buffet in the main restaurant was a pretty standard buffet but the selection was huge. We had the breakfast buffet at the Beach Cafe every day (which was a room category upgrade I believe) and it was great. The selection was good and you could order some meals from the menu at no extra cost. The view was awesome from here too - as was watching the monkeys steal peoples food!

We stayed in a Premier Chalet Over Water room and it was lovely. The rooms have been refurbished - flat screen TV, huge bed, bathroom was really nice and the bath was huge. The rooms in the resort are very spread out and was a decent walk to our room but we didn't mind doing it and if we didn't, the shuttle buses never took long to pick us up. The view from our room was spectacular - uninterrupted water views are nothing to complain about!

As we were a honeymoon couple, we received a little 'Welcome' cake and fruit bowl which was really nice.

The only disappointment to me was that the spa was operating at lower capacity due to renovations and I was not able to book in for a treatment while I was there. The lovely staff at the myTime desk did book us in at the Oriental Village spa though instead and it was great - who doesn't love a full body massage?! The spa at the resort did reopen on our second last day though but from what I could see the prices were more expensive then they were previously (as advertised on their website) and the 60 minute massage at Oriental Village was much cheaper. I could be wrong though!

The beach area was nice however we spent the majority of our time around the pool - mainly because of the swim up bar (we must have had a least a few cocktails per day each!). There were lots of options for water sports too but we didn't bother - lazing around was much more appealing.

We loved it here and would definitely return to this resort if we find ourselves in Langkawi again.

Room Tip: Premier Chalet Over Water is the way to go - not only are the rooms lovely but you get a breakfast u...

My husband and I stayed at berjaya for 2 nights for our second anniversary. Before the trip, I emailed the manager and let her know we were going for our anniversary. She did a great job in giving my husband and me a surprise without extra charge when we arrived. Really appreciate her effort. We stayed in the premier chalet on land. The condition of the chalet was higher than our expectation. it was spacious, clean and newly refurbished. The balcony was big and the view of ocean from there was amazing! We spent quite a lot of time in the resort itself. It has really nice and clean beaches and swimming pool which we can totally relax ourselves. We really had a great time and good memory there! Will definitely come again next time.
