Simply stunning. My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon and i's simply one of the best places I have ever stayed in.

We had a superior villa, huge comfy bed, DVD/CD player. big TV, massive bathroom, nice verandah. All the restaurants were simply wonderful food and being vegetarian was absolutely no problem. We thought food and drink were going to be too expensive but they were no dearer than a English estaurant prices an the food much better! Also try the Gulai ouse at the Andaman.

The spa was beautiful, partially set outdoors so you get a view of the rainforest whilst having you massage! The beach was lovely, quiet and unspoilt and the water clean and warm.

Must mention the staff who were magnificent from the welcome to the end. They remember your name and nothing is too much trouble. They'll drive you to your room if you want!

Car hire was a litlte expensive but as the resort is quite a way from any towns, the convenience of having a car ready to hire on spec was worth it.

Good gym, though the hot tub/cold tub was too hot and too cold for us.

I don't have a bad thing to say about this place - I would love to go back some time.

Stayed at the Datai as a special treat as we have heard so many great reviews on this hotel. Well I can only say that we absolutely love the place, the room, the staffs, the facilities everything was superb.
Do remember that you are staying at one of the poshest hotel on the island so don't expect food and drinks to be cheap. Although still very affordable as food was 1st class but we were shocked when we took a trip out and only paid £5 for our meal when we were paying on average £35 in the Datai.
We do love the hotel though and will definitely return one day.

We were in bad-need of a battery recharge ... having recently moved jobs and countries. We were told by folks that the Datai would be the perfect place. And they were right.

Can't fault the place really. Incredibly friendly staff. Supremely accomodating. Food was out-of-this-world.

Wildlife was fascinating. The nature walks are a must. Flying squirrels; flying snakes; wild boars; birds galore; watch out for the leeches (it is a rainforest after all!). And not to forget the monkies.

Beach/bay is one of the best I've been to. (Reef/snorkelling ... a bit murky ... watch out for jellyfish).

Room was smart; clean and spacious.

And the best sign of all: obvious evidence of repeat-guests (amazingly the staff recognised many & greeted them by name).

Overall verging on perfect.

Unusually for us (we want to go to new places), we talked about coming back next year.

We spent nine nights in one of the rooms in the main hotel.
We were worried after reading previous reviews that our expectations may be too high, but the whole stay was perfect.
The room was perfectly clean ( I am very fussy ), the pool was divine, the staff were incredible.
The only problem....we had to leave!
We can't wait to come back.
