Excellent hotel all round - easily warrants its five star status. Amazing setting, great service, very spacious and modern, uncluttered rooms. There is a great beach with a very 'man with the golden gun' feel to it and two decent pools one of which is kid free, one for families. The food is outstanding - I'm normally very wary of buffets but they change the theme every night and the food is fresh and cooked to order rather than sitting for ages in those silver heated containers. The other two restaurants are also excellent, one thai and the other eclectic, and the food probably on a par with a decent London restaurant. Food and drink are about UK prices but given the quality and the price of the resort I didn't think it was that unreasonable. Stayed for 10 nights, felt no need whatsoever to leave the resort (great golf course right next to it can kill a couple of days if you get bored). Flight is a killer though.

In danger of repeating everything that's already been written about this place - it is fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone who can afford it. It's not cheap - either in terms of room rates and spend once you're there (we averaged around £250 per day on food and drink). However, you get what you pay for.

We were told that the hotel was 80 - 85% full when we checked in. You wouldn't believe it as there is so much space... I've got photos of us at the main pool at 3pm and we're the only people there!

I would suggest that you book a Deluxe Villa if possible - they are set right in the midst of the Rain Forest and the experience is truly magical. I personally wouldn't pay extra for the Pool Villas - they are slightly smaller inside and your Plunge Pool will be in the Shade...

The setting, the food, the staff - all perfect. I didn't want to come home and am already thinking about planning my return trip!

This hotel is simply magical. We stayed there for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon and could not fault the hotel in any way.

The setting is unique, among the rainforest, the sounds and views are like no other i've seen. You can also take a nature walk at nigth to see what other animals are hiding. We saw monkeys, flying snakes, flying monkeys, spiders...

The food and the service at this hotel is also outstanding, with people willing to go out of their way to help you. Whether you are a fish or a meat lover, there's something for everyone.

I would recomend this hotel to anyone looking for a romantic getaway. However it is not really suitable for children.

We stayed at the Datai for 7 nights as part of our Honeymoon. Looking for something extra special we booked a pool villa which did not disappoint in the slightest. The villa was amazing being totally private with beautiful decor, DVD player and Bose sound system in the room.

The hotel itself is out of this world with the service being amazing. The staff were so friendly where nothing was to much of an effort. We liked the little touches like them remembering our names every time we saw them. The food at the hotel was 5 star with a choice of 3 restaurants, all of them with excellent menu's and wine lists.

The setting of the hotel is amazing blending totally into the jungle surroundings with lots of wildlife including monkeys, lizards and birds. The beach is private and almost feels deserted when you are on it. The infinity pool is also unbelievable perched high looking onto the trees and down towards the beach.

All in all this is the best hotel we have stayed in and would recommend it highly to any one. Treat yourself.
