Stayed at the pelangi for 12 nights end of May this year , this is our fourth year to stay there, we are never dissapointed. The staff are great always ready to help,you always get a smile and a great welcome. we stay in a lake view chalet , which is kept very clean , linen is changed very often as so are the towels, i would say most days. Wish we were back there, will have to wait till next year.

This resort was just what we needed altho our time too short.
We have a 5 year old and found the room ( sea facing) was ample big enough . Each room had a balcony which was just lovely in the early mornings watching the sun rise. The beach was fantastic for kids as it is quite shallow for a long while before it deepens. We were there at a quiet time so we had no more than 10 people at the beach at one time.
The resorts pools were amazing. Hotel staff very friendly and loved children.
We would walk down to the township each night for meals ( the footpaths have been constructed completely) and try a different restaurant each night. They were all great.
We had no complaints what so ever with treatment / service . We intend going back next year for a much longer time period.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in May. As we are not big funs of a beach holiday were worried that we were going to get bored. Nothing like this though! I regret we did not book few extra days there, both- the island and this hotel are so amazing. The resort is very well located, the grounds are immaculate, fantastically well looked after and staff service of the highest quality. They all made us feel so welcome and we could tell they were really happy working there. The breakfast was a treat, swimming pools great and so was a beach. What's important- there was no fighting over beach chairs. You could find more than one anywhere you liked. It is probably one of the biggest hotels so we were a bit worried about the feel of it. After visiting few other hotels on the island we were definitely assured that we made a right choice- the hotel is of a very authentic Malay design and fact- our room was quite dark but as we spent there only nights it did not bother us at all and it's size and lovely decore made up for that more than enough. The only thing is that the bathroom area need some refurbishment but was very clean so all in all can not complain. If we ever come back to Langkawi we will definitely come and stay at this resort. Highly recommended!

We stayed at this hotel after doing a bit of research on Trip Advisor - and it lived up to all our expectations.
We flew with Air Asia to KL then onto to Langkawi (60 mins flight). Family Package with B&B.
Air Asia - no complaints I am 6ft 2 - had no issues with leg room in standard seats . I'd booked the extra leg room seat on the return trip but there was no need for this.
Change your (£) in Malaysia you get a much better rate. I got 5.1 RM in M&S in London and 5.6RM in KL.
Breakfast is Excellent at the hotel - would recommend it. The BBQ is ok nothing special bit expensive but with the Family package Kids eat free. Worth going one night of your stay.
Happy hour in the beach bar between 3-7pm - drinks half price.
Carlsberg - Hotel Room 5RM , Bar - 12RM , happy hour 6 RM. If you buy outside of the hotel you can pick up for 1.7 RM.
Sea view room - excellent , If you can go for Room 300 - 303. Location is excellent . You're near the end of the beach with easy access to the local shops / restaurants and not far from the Hotel Pool / Lobby / Gym and Kids Club. We left our 11 / 8 yr old here for two days not something we've ever done before , they loved it and they're well looked after. They also loved the main pool (theirs two) and if it were up to them they'd stay in the pool for the whole holiday.

People moaning about bugs and lizards around the resort - hello your in a Far east tropical country. You're going to see these and I saw a lizard in my room kids loved it but couldn’t catch it. Yes the beach in the mornings can have bits and bobs washed up - so what this gets cleaned up in the morning by a tractor.

Walk to the end of the beach where the security hut is - turn left - then at the top turn right. 5 mins walk you got loads of restaurants. I like previous reviews would recommend the Orkid Seafood restaurant - we ate here most nights and never had any complaints.
Bottle of House Red in Hotel - 88RM. In this restaurant 45RM.
There's a local shop further up from the Orkid on the left called Toppe I think - you can hire a moped here for 20 RM (£4) per 48hrs and a decent car for 80RM (£16). Half Tank a petrol cost 30RM. Take your license / passport with you.

Make sure you go see the cable car - 30 mins drive if that and you'll pass the go-kart track , me and my 11 yr old had a fun time here 35RM(7quid) for a 10 mins sessions and the karts are fast.
Island Hopping - recommend it if you got down the beach past the Melangi security hut you can haggle with the guys doing boat trips.
Example - Island Hopping 3 islands 1. Go to a Nice Beach on an island swimming for an hour, then 2. Feeding the Wild Eagles in a cove 3. Fresh Water Lake - really good (walk through through the Jungle to this open fresh water lake - go swimming and you can let the cat fish nibble at your feet in a separate section (kids loved this) the fish have no teeth so they don’t bite - take some biscuits to feed them or they sell them there 3RM.
This trip was costing - advertised price 40RM Adults Kids 20RM with loads of other people at advertised times. You can get them down on this price but in the end I haggled and got a private boat (same type everyone else goes in) but you get it to yourself and you don’t have to go at any set time. I paid 200RM. I though it was worth it you can probably get it cheaper. They picked us up from the hotel and dropped us off afterwards - no complaints and your not waiting around for everyone else as you would with a group of people. The whole trip is about 4.5 hours. (Guys name was Eddie who sorted it out - worked on the sports hut next to the security hut at the far end of the Pelangi beach ).

We then flew to KL for two nights. when u land in the baggage area there is a taxi / bus rank - expect to pay around 92RM for a taxi into town - takes approx 45-50 mins. You can get the coaches they're 9RM each way, ok if you're not lugging around kids and luggage. They give you a slip which u pass on outside to the taxi rank guys.
