Don't judge this hotel by first impressions. It is tucked a away behind a laundry but the rooms are clean and large with good showers and facilities. There is free wifi, a TV, fridge and a patio area outside. It is quiet in the rooms and just a few minutes walk from the beach. It is on the quiet end of the town, but this is a plus as you have a place to escape the noise of the tourist areas in town. The laundry is Wong day the hotel and I'd well priced and convenient and the larger more pricey hotel across the road had a taxi rank outside, making travel very easy. I would readily stay at the Desa again as the owner was friendly and helpful.

My husband and I stayed at Desa Motel at Langkawi for 2 nights in the deluxe villa. I would say it was totally worth the money.
We were greeted by the friendly staff and especially Mr Yusuf at the reception. He was helpful with getting us taxi and providing important information. A/C room with clean sheets welcomed us.

Although the hotel package didnt provide us with breakfast, there are numerous eating joints around at the 'mamak stalls' (totally affordable!) for all your eating needs.
There was free Wifi for usage at the rooms and hot water available too.


Gorgeous and clean Pentai Cenang Beach is about 1.5 kms from there. Supermarket for all basic needs was at walking distance and we went ahead and rented a bike for 24 hours at about RM 40. Petrol is just so cheap in this country! We roamed about all the beaches and restaurants in just RM3!

For those who savor Chinese cuisine, there was a wonderful restaurant called Orkid Rio down the road. Another Irish Pub near the hotel too which has Cheezy wedges to die for!

All in all, had a wonderful stay and wish we could do it all over again. :)

It's known that this motel belongs to a laundry and shares reception with them. This did not affect us in any way. Rooms are spacious and clean. But walls have a rough finish and is not luxurious. Bathroom too is clean and spacious. Tap was not fixed properly but was not leaking. As my wife says, its not cozy, but good enough. Reception guys are smiling and helpful. They speak decent English and communication was not a problem. You can take their help for hiring cars or motorbikes and even for local sight seeing. You can can get your laundry done at RM 4/kg.

It is less than 500 meters from Langkawi Under water world and Pantai Cenang beach. This beach has some water sport and activities, not crowded but no facilities either. It would cost 22 RM from Airport to Desa Motel. Jetty from where they take to Island Hopping is also close by (they will pick you from motel anyway). Many seafood, Chinese and Indian/Arabic restaurants nearby. They wont clean room daily, but they will if you ask them to. They wont change bed sheets or the towels unless you ask them.

I booked this hotel from the agent from the jetty , the hotel rather difficult to find as we drive to the hotel thank god I was using my google map in my phone to direct me to the place , there's not much parking available , there's no reception , it's a laundry shop where you get your room keys , for the price I paid for the villa which is rm 250 per night , it's not worth it , the room was dark and the bed not comfortable with the bedsheet ! You need to walk down the stairs to the bathroom ! Stay here one night and change my hotel !
