When you stroll along Telaga Harbour with the gleaming white yachts and motor vessels, you spot the outside tables of Mare Blu from far; the tables are covered with spotless white tablecloths, Italian style. It is very inviting. A friendly waitress brings you the menu; the menu is a mix of Italian and general Western dishes. Generally, the service is right up to Malaysian Hospitality standards. My wife and I shared a platter of tomato bruschetta as starter; the bruschetta was freshly made and delicious. My main course was Fish and Chips. This dish was very tasty and the dessert, home made Tiramisu, stole the show. Sitting at an outside table of the restaurant, at the waterfront, with a view of the gleaming ships, is very pleasing. Why then, you will ask, stops the rating of the Mare Blu and the food at 4 points? I tell you why. My wife had a pasta dish with meat sauce for the main course. The tagliatelle was seriously overcooked, resulting in one big pasta lump, (not a little bit overcooked; you can wave that away, because cooking pasta to an ideal structure is a very precise job, but seriously overcooked) and this tagliatelle lump was literally drowned is the sauce. Although the taste of the dish was OK, I must advise the chef of Mare Blu to fine tune his knowledge on Italian cooking, especially on pasta dishes. I make a big point of this, because Mare Blu core business is of course serving Italian food.
