Since I travelled solo, most places tried to sell me on paying for the entire boat for $250RM. Wasn't gonna bite. All the places visited asked me to come back the next day to see if they could group me into a larger group. Hm... forget it. I left.
Drove around and found a place (near Pantai Tanjung Rhu) where there were two tourists already waiting for a 3rd party to share the cost.
paid $50RM for a 1.5 hour ride.
1st stop - fish feeding... tourist trap IMHO. It was more of a floating seafood restaurant.
2nd stop - eagle feeding.... i was more depressed than impressed. Why are the eagles being fed? Shouldn't they be looking for food on their own?
3rd stop - crocodile cave (or allegiator cave). warning, there are no crocs. it's just the name. Passed by an interesting site, "Hole in the wall."
4th stop - bat cave. you can choose to pay 1RM for a flash light. Pay it unless you are gifted with night visions. The place smells like bat dong. Along the way, you may see a few wild monkeys. Right before you exit the last cave, you'll see a sign that warns you about a snake. Not sure if it's really there or just to scare off the tourists.
As we were heading back to Pantai Tanjung Rhu, you'll probably pass by a sign that says, Kilim Geoforest. If your mobile phone is on with a Malay sim card, beware, you may be switched to a Thai mobile carrier at the open water.
Overall, a pleasant experience.
