“A usual dinner”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

During Christmas Eve, just walked along the Pantai Cenang to find a restaurant. Spotted this that their dishes suitable to our taste. Well, we ordered Tom Yam, BBQ Green Oyster & BBQ Siakap Fish. What I could say that the dishes went well, not really outstanding. I did not feel the WOW factor here but still recommendable.

The environment was good and warm. However, it was not as crowded as expected that night. Nothing so special here....

“Nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013

Chose this place because it was full every night - and they had lobster on special offer at 15MYR for 100g which seemed like a good price.

It felt very frenetic and it wasn't always easy to catch the waiter's eye.

The lobster was nice enough - we had it BBQd with garlic butter - but didn't blow us away and the price seemed quite high considering the size.

“Lovely food but ask for a guide weight for seafood options...:)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

This restaurant has a “relatively new” outlet in Kuah called Thailandish Seafood Restaurant which is located opposite to where Bella Vista is in Kuah town.

With the variety of restaurants all serving somewhat similar styles of food – it was a bit of a challenge deciding where to eat; this was selected at random and happened to be a good choice.

They have a photo menu, which is lovely to flick through and the dish you order comes out of the kitchen a replica of the illustration on the menu. The food here was lovely, we had the lobster and red snapper, which was cooked and seasoned well. The service was really good as well (staff were attentive, nice and smiley) which is always a bonus.

Major tip would be to ask for a guide weight of seafood before/around the time you are wondering. As my mate and myself just ordered off the menu on the premise that everything was cheap, we were a bit shocked when the bill came out. It was still a very cheap meal in comparison to what we get here in the UK for the quality but anyone who might be looking to eat on the cheap or cap their spending might like to have an estimate of what food might cost. Overall, it’s a good restaurant and I would eat there again without doubt.

“Beware of the price and the weight of the seafood!! Not trustworthy!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

I had my dinner there on my recent trip. I feel I was cheated because I didn't ordered the dishes. It was Tom Yam soup with 2 middle sized kings prawns and a plate of mix vegetable with small pieces of scallop. The bill came to RM 90.75 for the 2 dishes. So if you wish to eat in this place be careful of the weight of the seafood and ask for the price . Let the lady waitress repeats your order cos she is used to have her way and simply mumbled something and wrote the order. Though the food is ok but I feel I could have better dishes elsewhere for the price !

“A really great find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

We stumbled across islandish when the restaurant we were planning to go to was closed (tip: some places are closed on Monday and Tuesday evenings). We decided to walk a bit further along the busy strip to see if anything stood out, and came across Islandish, a Chinese and seafood restaurant which was really busy (we have noticed not many places get busy, as there is so much to choose from). So took the plunge.

Islandish has a big varied menu, with fresh seafood, Chinese, Thai and a bit of western fare. We opted to got for two small dishes each ( small, medium or larger are available) and share rice. Between four of us there was a great variety of food - fish, chicken, beef, squid and prawns, all of which were really tasty and there was plenty for everyone to try a bit of each dish. I would recommend the Thai style beef and the garlic and pepper fried beef, both really yummy.

The service was great, it seems like a family concern, with everyone helping out. It was friendly and the guy who took our order checked how spicy we like our food (spicy!) so we didn't get any nasty surprises. He also offered to take pictures for us and chatted about Langkawi and what we thought of our holiday so far. He rounded off our dinner with some complimentary drinks. It makes all the difference if people are friendly and welcoming and engaging.

The meal was one of the most reasonable we had during our stay, so overall a great place to stumble across - tasty, cheap and friendly - lovely!
