“Good, but with some quirks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

I went to this resort for my church camp retreat. The first time I heard of this hotel was several years ago, when the refurbishment was just done and everything was brand new. Now, staying in the newer wing, I find that the state of the facilities is not good. I stayed in a two-bedroom apartment overlooking the swimming pool.

Outline the negatives first:
First, the apartment was not maintained much. Second, some things were missing e.g. lights (only wires were there), remote control for a TV set. Third, the aircon works for the living room, but not the bedrooms. Fourth, room service doesn't seem so effective (e.g. request for a remote control wasn't met even after one evening). Fifth, some things are chargable. For instance, a friend of mine asked for extra towels, and was told that will be charged at RM10 per piece. Strange thing is, the room service folks gave additional when they came to tidy up the apartment everyday.

The positives:
The swimming pool was good - decent, nice and pleasant. There are several pools actually - you can use the one just next to the restaurant if you want the convenience to your room. Otherwise, you can go to the sports activity centre and try the two pools there (one freeform with slides, the other a regular swimming pool).
The food - despite the "repetitive nature" - is not so bad after all. If there are good stuff, it would be some of the desserts and the Chinese dishes in their Chinese restaurant.
The range of activities in the resort - you can play pool, arcade games, swim, play golf, go for spa, watch movies, go to the gym/library, watch the World Cup ... not bad if you are staying there and not going out. It's also near to some places e.g. Jusco and KFC - so those driving can go out for a quick bite/shopping if you want.
Did I mention that there is free WIFI too? That is actually pretty basic for today's standard actually. Free WIFI is not so reliable at times though.

Conclusion: good if you are there for a one to two days' stay. Don't stay beyond - I think you will get bored pretty easily.

Room Tip: If you can, ask for a room that is nearer to the ground floor. The lifts in the hotel have a pretty...

Great place for family getaway as it is a short drive from Singapore and away from the busy JB area. Location is not hard to find. Booked a two room apartment and was given three rooms upon check in. Check in was fast (5minutes) as I reached there at 4pm after the trip to little big club. The room is huge with fridge, living room, two toilets and balcony, The cleanliness can be improved as some of the furniture are quite dusty, the rooms need a change over as i believe they will there for quite sometime. Basic amenities is provided but minus hand and face towel.
If driving, I recommend that you drive out especially for breakfast as I really did not enjoy the food served there. Anyway, will be going back to play golf and family short stay

Room Tip: If you do not want to wait for the lifts (only 2), you can stay at level 2 as the swimming pool and...

I m writing this from pulai springs resort itself in a studio suite
Good points - huge room, huge bathroom, nice courtyard outside, huge living room and kitchen. Polite staff. Spacious grounds. Nice swimming pool. Comfy bed. Good price for rm 200/night incl breakfast.
Need improvement - many light bulbs in the room don't work. Bedside lamp does not have a hand switch, have to pull table away from the wall to switch it. I saw electrical tape wound around the wire and this is probably due to the hand switch failing some time ago and it wasn't replaced. Time to get an electrician in to do these simple wiring jobs.
Beautifully tiled Bathroom did not have hand towels or floor towels. No soap dish for the basin as well. the basin did not have a plug. Grimy tiles along the edges. These are simple housekeeping jobs which make a guest feel satisfied.
No cutlery or plates provided in the kitchen. Not even a spoon to stir sugar for coffee or tea. Oversight of housekeeping? Maybe a bit of dish washing liquid and sponge would be good to let the guests help keep the kitchen clean. Freezer and fridge were also not clean.
Room also looks old with scuff marks on walls and stained sofa. A new coat of paint and washable sofa covers would help here. The TV is a old model with not very good sound. Flat screens are cheap so maybe a replacement is due.
Pillow cases and pool towels are raggedy.
Checking time is listed as 3pm. I got there at 230 and was told room wasn't ready . Many hotels usually would have the room ready if it is that near to check in time. Finally given room at 315
a bit of effort in beautifying the fish pond near the pool with lights, plants and a water feature would be great.

Overall the hotel has a good design layout and beautifully fitted but over years everything has run down due to use so a simple makeover with paint and improved housekeeping would do wonders.

The hotel looks very different from the ads or website.
but overall for the stay it quite a OK stay.stayed at the 2 bedrooms family suite

Bedsheets and room was clean.until hassle was the distance involved as the hotel is located off the beaten path

That being said, the overall surrounding of the hotel cld need a upgrade.

Room Tip: if possible, go down to the hotel to get a look. if its not possible, check out reviews online..

Check in during the Singapore's school holiday, 18th to 19th June 2014.
To start with, bought pre paid vouchers from the Malaysia Travel Fair in Singapore, bought 8 nights between Pulai Spring Desaru and Pulai Spring JB.

It was a nightmare trying to book for 1 night, until I have to speak to person in charge in Singapore office. I have to go for 7 more nights. Regrets for having purchase so many nights.....

I was staying there in 2011, it was beautiful, service, landscape and food was all excellent, but over 3 years cannot believe things have change drastically.

I did speak to the duty manager, he tried his best to explain, with so many guests, scool holidays and back to back functions, things get a little out of control. He apologizes and was trying his best to control the situation. I complement him.

Down side are:-
No hand towel, face towel and toilet door mat.
Extra towel at RM$10 each.
No hangers in the wardrobe.
Jacuzzi was filthy and water was really hot.
Steam room was filled with 1 inch high of stagnant water.
Breakfast was tasteless.

I guess, it was school holiday, and they are short of staff, or else it was a really nice and cool place. It's best to avoid school holiday then, I hope.
