“Very comfortable hotel, great views, excellent service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014

I stayed here for a week on business and it was very impressive. The breakfast buffet was extensive, the service rapid and responsive all-round, at reception and in the dining area, and the rooms were very comfortable. Great views across the harbour, and even mores from the rooftop infinity pools (of which there are three, small, separate ones) and the rooftop bar.
I had the fitness centre to myself every time I visited (3 occasions).

At the weekend it was very busy with tourists coming to visit Legoland, and the breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings was really crowded. But all in all a good place to stay. Like others have said, there's plenty of construction going on around, but they are building up a huge complex for leisure, business, education and state administration, so what can you expect?

Nice getaway from the city crowd & really near Legoland. But being situated at a "under-development" part of Johor, amenities & facilities are sporadic.

There were some previous comments of poor guest service but we didnt experience any during my stay. Service on the contrary was excellent and personalised from the start to the end. Yes, I thought it was a lovely touch (though it may seem minor to some) to hand out lollipops to my kids during check-in!

As for safety, there were security and police patrols around the clock... I chanced upon a police post next to the Puteri Harbour club during one of my evening walk around the marina area.

Advisable to take up the deluxe harbour view room cause you will be treated to a really nice view of the marina... but you still can catch a nice view at the rooftop where the infinity pool is.

As for room amenities, everything looks new considering that the hotel is open only in about half a year. I was surprised to see a pull out bed under the sofa bed.. this was not advertised on the hotel website but was indeed welcoming for a family with kids... only grouse was that the sofa bed has a poor placement (directly under aircon blast) so it's chilly to sleep on it at night. Also, the area under the pull out bed is really dusty... Housekeeping should include vacuuming that area as part of standard procedure.

Otherwise, a really nice hotel I would recommend for a crowd getaway...

Location is GREAT - 2 min walk from Hello Kitty/Big Little Club.
5 min free shuttle ride to Legoland (please remember to call and book early as the shuttle has only 10 seats)
No much choice of food - Definitely goto the bar/restaurant further down on the right of shoreline that was great (food/price/live music).
Don't go xx Kennyxx (forgot the name) seems to be a chain roasted chicken type of restaurant. Food/service/cleaniness bad (cold soup, chicken no taste, waiters just sit around instead of working)
Slow checkin (with no clear queues)
Check your bill carefully upon departure. (We were charged for two-way transportation to Changi instead of one)

Also, the hotel arranged Hiace to Changi airport costed less than the one we found outside. ****If traffic allows****, they go for the route where you can stay INSIDE the car through MY/SG borders - great.

Only breakfast choice is hotel, as Starbucks nearby opens at 10am.
Only a pharmacy and Toysrus in the mall, other than Starbucks, and 3 (or so) other restaurants. (one sushi, one Chinese, and the xxx Kennyxxx)

It was a pleasant trip despite it being quite "full house" over the long CNY weekend. Check in was smooth and fast, room was clean and comfortable. A major plus point was the free wifi within hotel premises and the nice swimming pool with a good view. There are eateries, toyrus and even a pharmacy at the ground floor with the Little Big Club next block.

We had lunch in the restaurant of this hotel. The building and the decor are superb. It is well designed and well fitted out. The restaurant looks very good and inviting. Sadly the service and the food fall well below any acceptable standards. When we arrived the buffet lunch was over. The A La Carte menu is very short and restricted for a hotel of this quality. The staff were not welcoming and certainly not friendly. We were with 2 of our friends who have extensive Food and Beverage experience. Our drinks arrived without any ice and we had to request some. Bread rolls arrived but without any butter knife. When our meals arrived both starters and main courses arrived at the same time. We sent the main courses back but I am not sure what they did with them until we were ready to eat them.

For starers I chose spring rolls and samosas. They were very oily and greasy. The garlic bread served with the mushroom soup did not look to be edible. The greek and the Caesar salads looked OK but I guess there is not much that they could do to make them unpleasant.

For main course 2 of our party had the fish and chips. I am told the fish was cut strangely and was not high on flavour. We had to request more condiments to make them more palatable. One of us had a soup which had a lot of chicken in it even though it was not mentioned on the menu. My Char Kway Teow was not appetising at all and felt as though it might have been microwaved..

As we left we were asked if we would like to fill in a guest feedback form. We declined. Any feedback we might have offered at that time would not have been helpful. Afterwards we found an excellent local restaurant near the harbour where the food looked better and the prices were more reasonsable coming in at about 50% of the hotel charges. Unlike our experience at the Traders Hotel the staff here were friendly and welcoming.

I understand the hotel has opened fairly recently but it needs some good and strong management. It occupies an excellent site and it is well designed and equipped. The public areas are very comfortable and quite modern. Basically, as a hotel property, it needs managing both in terms of customer service and the food quality.

Check inn was a breeze.I opted for hotel taxi for pick up from airport and they were already ready with my booking. The hotel is nice.Rooms are neat and clean.View was good(I stayed in harbour view room). The great thing about this hotel which we liked was the selection of buffet breakfast. The food was amazing!!.Also location is good but after getting there i realized if travelling with family Legoland hotel is much better option. My kid is 10yrs old and was not interested in visiting Red Cube which host Hello Kitty theme park,so in my opinion if you are going to visit legoland and water park lego hotel is a better option.Even though the hotel has complimentary pick and drop to legoland .

We stayed for 3 nights and we really enjoyed.

A new hotel in up and coming Nusajaya in Southern Malaysia. We have stopped in lots of Shangrila hotels and generally find that the Traders branch in more suitable for business travelers rather than families. The position is good for Hello Kitty world but a short drive to Legoland by Taxi. Lots of people from Singapore were staying when we went.
The breakfast buffet is good and more outlets are opening up near by. The hotel is new and the staff are very willing but some are just working out their roles. The leadership however does seem good with staff drafted in from other hotels in the group.

The pool and gym on the top floor are very nice and not too busy when we stayed. Overall nicer than Thistle in JB and in the up and coming area. Certainly handy for the second link from Singapore.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the harbour are the nicest.
