“Slight disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

This was my second visit, my first was few years back when it was still named as Pan Pacific.
i am quite disappointed with those front liner, the manner when talking to guest is always the main concern of mine.
Puteri Pacific's breakfast serve till 10.30am, and i was almost late for it. (reach restaurant @ 10.25am) When i bumped into the counter, giving the servicing person my name and room number, he acted like my displine teacher, serious face and told me: breakfast only serve till 10,30am. and i replied: so..can i still walk in for breakfast?...and he said: just take whatever left...

this is rude....

2nd incident: as a guest, carparking is a complementary. but we need to obtain a card to validate the parking ticket. friend of mine walked to the reception and request for the complementary card. Receptionist given a face with doubt, and asked... you staying here ar? (twice)...
Question should always be: Hi Sir, may i help you? ...i see, let me help you to get the complementary card, and i will need your room number, car registration number for registration.

room is fine, but maintainence needed. some powerpoint is not functioning/water heater is not functioned as per the temperature.
the towel is stink...

of course...there are good review too: some ground staffs are friendly.

The Puteri Pacific was found on the net and booked through Asia rooms. We had no idea what we would find when we got here.
It is an older hotel which is clean and neat - - the rooms are large with a separate shower and bath. The rooms do need some updating but they are more than adequate and as I said they are clean.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
Breakfast had a large variety but nothing outstanding.
My one criticism is that there is nothing in the rooms to advise you about the hotel. we decided to eat in and had to go on line to find out what restaurants were in the hotel - - this could have been saved by a information booklet which is common in most hotels.

book thro Agoda, Check in on the early morning of 5th Oct. Room was a Princess Deluxe on the10th floor, room look spacious but furniture look dated, with general amenities. The king bed has seen better days as its sunken in the middle ! (we check-in 1+am, so was too tired or bother) we make do with another Super-single bed include in the room. Minibar was empty accept for 2 bottles of mineral water, notice 1 bottle's seal has been broken but still left on the counter.

Bathroom also look very dated, the stain has eaten into the grouting making the tiles look dirty, wash basin took a long time to drain.

The lobby looks glam, but its totally different look in the rooms. The management seems like taking a very long time to upgrade the rooms. If u have more cash to spare try other hotels...

Room Tip: come after they complete their Renovation & upgrading !!

We stayed in JB for a night prior to flying back home from Singapore.

We were unsure if this massive hotel would be faded and unmaintained.

The foyer is grand and opulent. The staff are surprisingly helpful, they allowed us to extend our check out time to suit our air travel time. The building and rooms are clean and well maintained. There is an exceptionally good buffet breakfast in the downstairs restaurant. There is a gym, a swimming pool and spa should you wish. Our room had a good view over the old mosque. It is located next to JB central in the heart of bustling Chinatown. The one improvement I would suggest is the hotel bar, it is rather dingy and could be done with brightening up a bit.

There are probably cheaper options in JB but they are unlikely to have same degree of comfort or facilities. Compared to nearby Singapore this is a good value option.

Room Tip: Booking online may be a cheaper option than turning up like we did.

After a hectic family trip in Chennai, India my wife and I arrived in JB very tired. We had booked as a Hotel Club's Last minute deal customer. Unfortunately, the booking had not gone through; but the staff at reception made us feel comfortable and offered us a great and spacious double bed room well ahead of check-in time which we appreiate very much. The room was on non-smoking one on a high floor with great views of the city. Aircon was very good as well as all other amenities. The room came with free breakfast with a great spread of Indian Malay and European dishes added with desserts and icecream which we thoroughly enjoyed. Location is very good being in the city central. There were quite a few nice Malaysian restaurants in the area, but we found the dinner at the Hotel exceptionally good too. Thanks for the very customer friendly staff.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the lift on higher levels were good.

We only spent the one night here so we could extend our weekend in JB and see Lego land, the first thing we had issues with was parking, the hotel gave us a discounted rate at car park around the other side of the block somewhat connected to the hotel, but you had to check in first. When I did try the car park, every spot was completely taken, and there were probably 6 other cars doing the rounds, so while my wife and daughter waited in the hotel room, I tried winning the car park lottery, eventually after an hour I managed to squeeze the car in, even all the made up spots were already taken. Hotel was otherwise just ok, service was slow at the front desk, the room was acceptable but they do sell the hotel was high standard, which for JB it might be, but not in other parts of the world. The pool didn't look very nice either so we stayed away much to the dissapointment of our daughter. What was good, the location was fairly central allowing us to walk to nearly food places, which was good because I wasn't going to move the car, no way. Their valet parking they mentioned when booking was non-existent.

Room Tip: If you're driving, find a hotel with parking.

Stayed here from 9-11 September. The location is quite good but the service is BAD, especially for business travel. The heat from the shower in my room was poor, so I asked for it to be looked into. But nothing changed after "the hotel claimed it had been looked into"...I've stayed in more cheaper hotels which had a better shower! The staff at reception look lazy and not keen to serve.....I WOULD AVOID this hotel!
