“What a terrible night!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2009

How would it be to spend a night at a presumed palace where no valet parking does his job, no one to welcome you, no one to carry your luggage, a kitschy room made out of the worst and cheapest materials, a bathtub that gives you the feeling of being swallowed by the moss around and a mysterious AC that shuts down on its own in a terribly hot night as a ghost who slips away.
And the terrace view on an uncleaned floor where dead cockroaches lie roasted on their back!
And the nicest to come is to your ears that are disturbed through the night by the terrible music of the Edde sands beach resort.

I am quite sure none of the nice stars of the Jbeil sky ever will ever lye next to this terrible hotel name!

Staying in Byblos for a wedding, we booked rooms at the Edde Sands Hotel, based on the reputation of the luxurious and posh Edde Sands Resort.
The first thing to be said is that although the hotel is managed by the resort, it is not in their premises and neither within a walking distance, so that its location is totally useless and far from everything.
The second thing is that the hotel itself is extremely ugly, cheaply furnished with horrible couches in the lobby, transparent plastic protecting the chairs in the dining room. The rooms are badly appointed and very expensive. The cheapest rooms (165 USD!!!) have a view on a wall and are so small that it going to the bathroom without walking on your partner’s bed is impossible, reading lights are placed just above the bed so that they can hurt your head while you are sleeping (if you are able to sleep), etc.
The third thing is that the place is totally run down and badly managed. Front desk personnel are totally incompetent and unaware of what is happening, getting food by night is impossible and when we asked for a bottle of water they told us we could find beverage at the resort itself, room service is inefficient let’s not say inexistent. In one of our rooms, cockroaches were sun tanning on the balcony.
The only positive thing in the hotel is breakfast, which is very generous with a wide variety of hot pastry and croissants. For everything else, the hotel is a catastrophe and should be avoided by all means.

We stayed for three nights. It takes half an hour to check in and a half an hour to check out. Our bed was broken, our safe was broken, and our doorknob was broken. You won't have a clear picture of what the resort includes until your very last day, because everyone you ask doesn't know, and you don't get like a packet of literature or anything describing the resort. I had to make a list of ten questions and walk down to the front desk to ask about things like - what time does the shuttle to the resort stop running (at midnight on weekdays, maybe 2 on weekends, he's not sure. hilarious!) Can we go swimming 24/7 (no, pool and beach close at 7!!!!). What about towels? DO we use the ones in our room? WHat things cost extra, and what is included? Etc. I don't think he answered one question with absolute certainty.
Also, no one knew any of the pricing for the spa. I asked for a brochure and he said they didn't have one. The guy at the front desk said i would have to go to the spa to ask them. But on the third day, while we were sitting in the lobby waiting for our taxi, I found a brochure sitting on the table, with a list of all the spa prices! they are so unorganized and poorly trained, it's unbelievable.
the resort itself is beautiful, with tons of gardens and trees and foliage and pretty pools. but with that kind of service, it's not worth 200 bucks a night, especially when that price covers only the room. even the beach beds are 33 bucks extra just to lay on for the day! and the nicest pool they have (the VIP pool) cost a whopping $70 to use!
don't stay here. if u want, just drive to the resort and pay the $15 entrance fee and u get to enjoy the beauty of the resort without the hefty price tag.
oh, and in the ocean we got stung by jelly fish, and on our last day we were late for our flight because they forget to give us our wake up call.

I stayed there with a friend. As the directions there were misleading we asked a security guard there wearing the resort t-shirt about the hotel entrance, he said he doesn't know!!!! Finally we got there, the receptionist didn't make a single eye contact with us, the room was overlooking the wall of an adjacent building. The breakfast order was delivered missing a lot of items and kept on coming back wrong for 4 times. It's mentioned fresh orange juice on the menu but it was not. We requested a tea, it was on the menu but room service couldn't deliver it as they ran out of tea!!!! The service at pool and beach area was inexistent. Starting 5 pm, no food and beverage service to pool and beach!!! No entertainment whatsoever. Spa is way overpriced. Staff is rude and not service oriented at all. By the 3pm, we wouldn't see our toes as the water in the pool became opaque. We couldn't use the beach either as there were trucks digging there. What used to be a sandy beach is now full of rocks and the sea was covered with a filthy brown foam

I have never imagined that one day I would use ear plugs at a "wellness and spa resort". This place is simply awful, the loud music at the resort stay up till 4am every night, which makes it impossible to sleep. Room service is a mess, we ordered 2 chicken sandwiches thinking that they would be hot and delicious, but it turned out to be as cold as gas station food. Inside the hotel is so noisy, you can literally hear the people in the room next to you. It's also too expensive!

We stayed their for two nights, breakfast was included in the price of the room. The location is great, but I found it to be overpriced.
