“Worth going back to again and again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This place is simply magnificent! We stayed in a beautiful luxury tent along the banks of the river. Beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Elephants wonder through the camp at night and you can hear them chomping leaves from your bed if you are very lucky. The beds are really enormous and so the two beds were perfect for a couple and two kids sharing the other bed. The deck has a small plunge pool which is so refreshing and keeps children hugely entertained while doing game viewing from the comfort of your own tent. The food was delicious and staff/service good. We usually self drive in game reserves, but we did one game drive with their vehicle and guide. They were really very excellent and successfully tracked down a pack of wild dogs which was very special. Samburu itself is a great park - it is easy to navigate around on a self drive, even if there are no sign posts, you can't really get lost. There are some fantastic animals that you won't see easily in other parks such as the
Reticulated giraffe, Gerenuk and Grevy's zebra. I believe this camp is very expensive with foreign rates but for resident rates it is much more affordable. Be aware the wind blows a lot at certain times of the year and it can interfere with a pleasant sundowner! We traveled in August 2013.

Room Tip: All rooms face the river and I believe are equally good.

After our amazing walking tour with Karisia, it was a treat to relax and hangout with the Elephants. Our family of five (kids ages 8, 11, 14) stayed in 2 amazing tents. Elephants wandered through the camp at all times of day. Wonderful food and great game drives. We saw a mother cheetah with her babies, elon, gerenoks and more. Overall we liked the relaxing pace, kind staff and super luxurious tents. At night there was a wonderful breeze with the curtains flapping against the windows and our kids were delighted to be woken up with hot chocolate and cookies. Love this place!

We arrived at the camp on Friday and spent two nights. We loved the room setting and the fact that we had a private plunge pool to cool us from the Samburu sun!
We had three encounters with the resident elephants that came to graze right next to our bedroom. It was amazing being able to see the elephants trunk and to see it opening its mouth from less than 2 feet (both inside and at the deck of our room). It is indeed an elephant's bedroom.

The staff were really friendly and the food was great, big ups to the team at elephant bedroom for making our stay more awesome than we ever thought!

3 years in Kenya and about 30 safaris in different parks and different lodges so you can trust us. In Samburu (lot of wild) our favorite one is definitely Elephant bedroom : for its location, for the tents (very spacious, very clean, very tastefully decorated and very comfortable), for the outside private "pool" with view to the river. The whole Staff will make your stay wonderful. The food is good. A quite place (no longer secret because of its success) to share with the elephants in the camp... We'll come back a 3rd time, sure !

One of the best experiences ever!! Luxurious tents, fab food, outstanding service, and best of all Elephants wandering around the park day and night!!! Waking up to see an elephant feeding outside our tent was fantastic!Buffet breakfast with plenty of choice, table service 3 courses lunch and dinner. The menu was not extensive as there are only 12 rooms, but enough variety to please most, and fresh fruit always offered if you didn't fancy the desserts. The tents are beautifully furnished, with a lovely bathroom, hot water at all times and all the little extras you would expect in a top quality hotel. The staff were friendly very, helpful .Would definitely pay another visit.

We were picked up from the airport by our Samburu Guide - Julius and were eye to eye with a lioness within 10 minutes. As we arrived at the camp there were elephants in and around the camp. It does exactly what it says on the tin!!
The camp is superbly located on the river and brilliantly set out. Our tents were really fabulous with a plunge pool on the decking. The shower was better than the one my house. How they do this in the middle if nowhere defies belief.
Ok there aren't as many animals in Samburu national park as the Masai Mara but the scenery is stunning and Julius is a wonderful, knowledgeable guide. The sighting of a leopard in a tree being the highlight.
The food at the camp is freshly prepared and of a very good standard.
All in all we had a fantastic break. Great to get out if the madness if Nairobi. Highly recommended.
