we have just returned from Dream of Africa and cant praise it highly enough.
we have NEVER come across such fantastic staff anywhere-not one of them was anything but courteous,warm and friendly.
the food and accomodation were out of this world

We came here for some R&R after a Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari.

The Hotel was the only one open on the Malindi Beach after the Post-Election Troubles, All guests from other hotels had been transfered here as it is the best on the coast.

we got a deal on the hotel and If I'd paid full price for this holiday I would have been dissapointed.

The Food, the rooms, decor and the facilities were to an excelent standard but i think that the Hotel had too many guests stoping for the number of Staff. - Service was sometimes very slow.
All the staff I delt with were very Nice/polite and were willing to talk when they had time - They just didnt have much time.

We were also dissapointed that the onsite dive centre was closed and we were not notified prior to travel - I may have been able to make other arrangements with independant centres.

My wife went to the spar and they had a good range of facilities, but the last thing you want after a 50 minute relaxing massage is a hard sell to book another session. She says the spar is good, but the high prices were not justified compared to other facilities she has used elsewhere in the world

Would I go Back? - I dont know, the facilities were better than one or two others I stopped with, but the service was sometimes poor,

We have just returned from a week at this wonderful hotel. Our suite was certainly 5 star & Michael kept our room extremely clean - little touches like folding our clothes, putting the magazines & books in a tidy pile, flowers on the bed after making in the morning, etc. The food was excellent and extremely healthy. The staff were ALL helpful and nothing was too much trouble & loved to ask about England. It is a wonderful place for a holiday & we met some fantastic people - you know who you are! (Scooby Doo & Lou, Dangermouse & the lady of Splott, King Twitcher & wife - really lovely people) Israel (our taxi driver - a great guy) took us into the village where we visited Edward and his family. If we had realised before going to Kenya we would have certainly taken our unwanted clothes, shoes/trainers, pencils, large notebooks (for use at school), old mobiles, footballs etc - so please anyone who is thinking of going in the near future please, please take these items they really do need them! (One lady has been going there for the last 12 years and gives money to one family, she has built them a house, paid the childrens school fee's - she is a saint). Would we return - you bet;

We have just returned from a weeks break at The Dream Of Africa, Malindi, we went for my Partner Julia's 50th birthday.
We found the half price deal through an e-mail from Travel Zoo top 20, the travel agent was Marks Travel and it turned out to be a Kuoni holiday.
We were the first Monarch airlines flight in to Kenya this year, there were local tv cameras filming as we came in!
The hotel was in Malindi about 2 hours by bus from Mombasa now that the road has been tarmaced..
We were met at the hotel by the staff who brought us cocktails while we checked in.
We were taken to our room and the luggage was carried up for us, by now we were already getting a warm feeling about this hotel, the room was just as the brochure and the bathroom a touch of class with the large shower, his and hers sinks and jacuzzi type bath, stone shampoo and shower jell bottles were a nice touch, the fridge in the room was stocked with Tusker beer Coca Cola and various other soft drinks all inclusive.
The restaurant never failed to please us the whole time we were there the fish was especially delicious, always plenty of fresh fruit and salads too - just wonderful food...
The best part for us was the absolute genuine frendliness of the staff who always geet you with "Jambo" (hello in Swahili) all the staff could not do enough for us which made our holiday just the most wonderfull time.
We made lots of freinds at the hotel as there were only about 20 couples staying there, there really is nothing bad about this hotel we wondered what the catch was with our half price deal but we have got to say Marks travel and Kuoni and Plan Hotels really came through with this deal.
We had made contact with Abdul from Tunda tours before we arrived to arrange our Safari to the Masai Mara, Abdul picked us up from the hotel and took us to his office to arrange the Safari, he also gave us a free tour of Malindi and took us to Watamu and Gede ruins, and when we wanted to have a look for some gifts he aranged a couple of locals he knew to accompany us round the shops and market, he was really thoughtfull and his wife even gave Julia a present of a pair of shoes, he is well known in the area and the locals call him the Mayor!
