Returned yet again to the Driftwood. This would be the fifth time in the last twelve months , and i have to say as a seasoned traveller this is without a doubt my favorite place to chill out , unwind , relax and meet people both from the local and international standpoint , if i so wish . If not, i can push off to a corner by myself and envelop my self with my laptop , contact my virtual office , call mu family or simply fall asleep.
The bar is quite something , should one so wish to catch up with the european locals who have come to be associated with the Driftwood.!!! Always worth having a drink ,as you never know whom you may end up talking to ...
Food is fresh and of a good standard.

We were overall extremely pleased with everything. All staff very friendly and at the same time very professional. Excellent food- by far the best restaurant in Malindi.Nice garden and pool. The rooms good but we missed a fridge. The owners were also very friendly and the staff in the reception fixed whatever you requested. (Excursions etc.) 2 Swedish ladies who can´t wait to come back.

My wife and I came to Malindi to visit our sponsored child through Compassion International in a nearby town. We decided to stay at the Driftwood Beach hotel after reading reports of prostitutes at another nearby hotel. We loved this hotel. It was right on the beach, my wife did a couple of lovely watercolor paintings, the foood was superb, the staff were all very helpful and attentive. It was a very good choice for us for a rest after a missions trip to Sudan.

No other way to describe a long restful stay with most needs met to ensure a carefree existence. This was our eigth visit-not counting one or two in the 60s-and each year has been wonderful. Service is firstclass. Year on year the menu has improved. The chef is a gem and for the whole of our stay we had a range of delicious specialities. The restaurant stifles any incentive to go out for dinner! which is served by an enthusiastic staff. Roll on Jan 2012

We've been visiting the Driftwood from the UK for 23 years. Why, because we are independent travellers and want total relaxation in wonderful surroundings. We have made lasting friendships with people from all over the world. The staff are honest, friendly and will do everything they can to serve you well. If you want to eat something not on the menu, just ask the chef. If he has it, he will cook it.
Only one TV but it's not often used. The art of conversation is not dead. Those travelling alone need not feel isolated unless they wish to be left alone.
Plenty of opportunities for big game fishing, diving, exploring, shopping, safaris. We've done them all with no bad experiences.
"Informality at its best" sums it up. We feel this has become our second home.

I came with a group on a medical missions trip to the Malindi District Hospital. After long days taking care of people and doing the work we came to do, it was so wonderful come back to the Driftwood and let our weariness drift away with the calming waves of the ocean, a dip in the pool, fine food, and a warm and wonderful atmosphere. The guest house was adorable, clean, and comfortable. The service was outstanding and all the help were kind and cordial. I hope to come back again soon.
