Have just spent 3 days here and everything was more than excellent and exceeded my expectations . The hotel is spotlessly clean which is immediately apparent when you enter the large reception area. There is a cake shop bar and a cafe with very nice seating in a lovely atrium style lobby with the open style lifts providing views of the lobby area as they ascend. In the lobby area there is a bar and while it is quite expensive again the staff are lovely and everything is gleaming and clean.
Staff are friendly efficient and very helpful, it was also nice to see that all staff are immaculately presented and very smart. The staff seem to take pride in making sure that there individual uniforms are worn to best effect, very impressed.
They genuinely seem pleased to see you and really go out of there way to make you feel welcome. I have to be honest I was expecting it to be similar to my not so good experience in Moscow, but how wrong I was...
The room was large with lots of in room freebies and again everything was spotlessly clean bathroom was average size with a bath and a combined shower which had a fairly high step into the tub. Not a problem but merely an observation. There is also a huge selection of tv channels with a few in English. Iron and ironing board also provided. Air conditioning is quiet and efficient.
What was also nice was being able to open the window in the room for fresh air. Wi fi was good but required repeat signing in but again not really a problem.
The bed was very comfortable and the quality of the bed cottons seemed obvious to the touch. I slept extremely well without being woken by the sound of doors banging which is the norm in many other countries.
Almaty for me was a very pleasant surprise, the people are friendly and although difficulties with the language people were willing to help and always with a smile. Food was excellent although they seem to consume a lot of horse meat (a bit like uk supermarkets). Going out in the city felt very safe and everywhere is virtually litter free, sitting in Panlov Park watching the world go by was like stepping back in time, fascinating.
The spa in the Hotel is beautiful with a Turkish bath, Sauna, Massage and indoor pool, although I felt that the massage was expensive, gym facilities were more than adequate and once again everything was spotless.
On one of the evenings I had room service which was delivered extremely quickly and the quality of the food was superb as was the presentation, none of those wooden tray affairs but a proper table wheeled into the room and properly laid up. The food was excellent.
I really enjoyed my stay here and will hopefully be able to return again soon, oh and special mention has to go to the lovely girl Alami on the concierge desk who was simply superb and smoothed out a few travel issues for me ensuring I was getting proper prices etc. a real asset to the hotel.
I am unable to comment on value as this was a company booking however I would assume that this hotel would be in the upper price bracket. I am very fortunate to travel the world with my work and have always rated India as the best when it comes to service, having Now experienced Kazakhstan and the city of Almaty India has competition !
