“Very tiny rooms for two”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012 via mobile

I am now in the midst of a three week trip across Japan. I have grown accustomed to small but efficient hotel rooms and efficient use of space in bathrooms. However, even by typical Japanese hotel room standards, the room we were given was very tightly cramped for two people. We had to plan our movements around the room. To enter the bathroom requires a step up over a two inch ledge and then back down to a floor at room level.

On the positive side despite being adjacent to Shinkansen tracks noise was not a problem. Breakfast included both Japanese and western choices and plenty of each. The hotel was quite busy the weekend we were there. The staff was helpful and efficient.

The location is close to the station but a bit of a walk including over several overpasses. Best to use a taxi if carrying luggage.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2008

Spent a night with my family in this hotel in November book through our tour agent. The hotel looked pretty new. Took a single and double room on the 11 floor overlooking the railway tracks.

Although the single room was tiny, I did not feel claustrophobic. The rooms and bathrooms were neat and clean which is the most important for me. The bathroom were stocked with the atty line of shishedo body products like a number of hotels I stayed in during this trip to Japan.

Most of all, it was quiet despite the fact that the railway track was right outside my window and you could see the tiny people inside the train when it stopped and moved off a nearby station!

The soundproofing is good provided you do not open the window which is also soundproofed. The only peeve I have is that the room is overheated despite having adjusted the thermostat to 18 deg and the mode to blowing fan.

On the second floor is a spa/public bath which I heard was quite good. Did not try it for myself as it wasn't an onsen but I saw quite a number of locals heading for the spa at night and in the morning while I headed for the breakfast room (also on the 2nd floor) so do try it for yourself!

Food selection of the breakfast buffet is good but part of the breakfast tables were traditional jap low tables. You might want to try for the experience. However, it might pose a problem for older guests with creaky knees. You have to take off your shoes before going to the breakfast tables and this will require some balancing act when you take off your shoes with a laden tray. =)

Notes: After the trip I compared the photos I took with the ones they put on their hotel website and they are WYSIWYG unlike some other hotels I have been to. A plus point I suppose.

If you are feeling hungry or wish to stock up munchies for the next day, there is the lawson's convenience store right across the hotel front which is cheaper than the family mart combini store in the hotel.

  • Liked — Clean, neat, new and good soundproof
  • Disliked — thermostat
