The Fresh Market we visited isn't the one shown in the images on this page, which is a fish market in the basement of the Auga department store, but the reviews sound like the place we went to, which is on Nico-Nico dori, near to the Nakasan department store. There are a few rice selling stalls in this market, indicated by the "Don" symbol (丼) on a brown flag. Here you can buy a book of 5 or 10 tickets. One ticket gets you a regular sized bowl of rice, two get you a large portion. After that, you can spend your tickets at any stall with the "Don" symbol on a blue flag. We found burdock (gobou in Japanese), green beans with tofu, tamago omelette, pickles, and mushroom dishes at a couple of stalls. Once you have your selection of sample trays, you choose a seat in one of the seating areas and enjoy your meal. There is free water and tea at the seating areas. For non-vegetarians, there is a huge range of fresh fish to choose from. It was really good food and a great way to try out different Japanese foods.
