“Nice hotel with one drawback.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2014

This is a very good hotel conveniently located near the ferry terminal for Naoshima and the station. The rooms have a nice view and are generously sized. The breakfast is good. What spoiled it for us was the " table charge " in the top floor bar of 500 yen per person. This is not mentioned anywhere that we could see although the lighting was extremely dim. It made for a very expensive drink and isn't a mistake we will make again.

It’s billed as the best hotel in the city and it certainly fitted that paradigm for us.
Our 11th floor harbor view twin room was spacious and comfortable and everything worked as expected. The included WiFi works well and there are a couple English language TV news channels. English knowledge among the staff was adequate and a minor problem with the TV service after an earthquake was attended to promptly and efficiently.
There are a few good dining options in the hotel but a much more extensive choice requires a 15 to 20 minute walk to the downtown heart or less time on the Kotoden Streetcar which starts out from what remains of Takamatsu Castle just across from the hotel.
The same streetcar continues to Ritsurin Gardens and then on Kotohira and the ferries to Teshima & Noashima are also right out front as is the JR railway station.
So, it ticked all of our boxes and we would certainly stay again.

We are traveling 5th time in Japan! Enjoying the large room, breakfast eastern/western, and proximity to train and ferries. There are lots of places to eat and visit. First day, we spent morning at the Isamu Noguchi outdoor sculpture museum. Our economy room on the 19th floor was quiet with a view of the railroad station! No harbor or castle! The breakfast has a nice selection of pastries. Loved the breads, croissants, almond bear claws, apple tarts..too many choices. Only one coffee machine which has Americano, expresso, and blend. Problem is the line at the coffee station. The Japanese selection has all the stewed vegetables, udon, tofu freshly made, some dim sum, salad, fresh fruit...Enough to fill you and enable you to skip lunch!!

Room Tip: Our whole group was on the top floors.. Did not see or hear anything from other people in the hotel...

16.000 (about 130 euros) and fully prepaid thru JapanIcan, as we wanted to be close to the station and to the ferry pier to Naoshima.

The twin room we had was surprisingly large with a wonderful full 180° view over the harbour, and the castle. An imperial treatment to us. But when we looked into the floor plan, the largest rooms faced the sea, while the small units were to the back. So the more you pay, the best treatment you get.

We like :
- Very nice room, softly decorated, almost a suite, 25M2 or so, WiFi and nothing missing. WiFi of course.
- Very well situated ; on the premises of the main JR Takamatsu station, and the 2 main ferry piers.
- Lots of dining options around

Wrapping up our Shikoku trip (a round island drive), Takamatsu was our last stop before heading back to Osaka. Rooms are large and can fit 3 beds (our friend has 3 ppl in their party) and the two rooms we had got great view of the pier and the Takamatsu castle. Right next to the train station and the pier to the various neighboring islands. Staffs were great and helpful. Would definitely stay there again if visiting the Shikoku areas.

We spent one night here on our way to Naoshima. the hotel is large, the rooms and big and well equipped, I like the decor of the room. The views were amazing and the hotel is very close to the train station. We did not eat there, just to many good options around and cheaper prices but had breakfast. Breakfast was large, varied and all tastes should be catered for.

Check in and out went smoothly and fast. Liked the hotel.

Room Tip: As high as you can get as the street is busy and the view is great from the top.

This is a high quality hotel in a perfect location close to the ferries both stations and the town centre we had room 1606 A spacious room with a massive bed and everything you could want in a hotel room but also with a fantastic view looking across the port area out to the islands in the distance. The hotel has great facilities including the top two floors which are floors 21 and 22 that are 'sky' restaurant and 'sky' bar with good atmosphere great service and great food. For a hotel of this quality the prices were ok. There is a fantastic patisserie on the ground floor as well as a cafe and another restaurant. If you want a great hotel in a great location at a good price this is the place to stay.
