The shokudo itself is a baren, spartan concrete shell attached to a house and does not look apetizing. I had it on my list but my parents in law were a bit sceptic due to how dilapidated the place looked. The toilet is actually in an outhouse. Haven't checked personally, but my wife claimed it was actually very clean.
Choice is limited with just soba, misoshiru yakisoba, tofuchamploo and rice on the menu but knowing granny does this all by herself...you may need to walk to the kitchenwindow and order there.
You get such a lot of food for little money it's nearly ridiculous. 600JPY for a tofuchamplo that big with rice? how does granny survive?
No wonder locals flock to it.
