“The most wonderful place to stay through out Japan trip with my fam;)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

We stayed here for 3 night and got a really wonderful time here. The guesthouse is easy to find regard to the explanation in their guesthouse website. It is really close to Nara JR station. The owner can speak english very well. he was very helpful and gave us so many useful information. He gave us a very useful map with the lists of restaurant and interesting sightseeing places. The cheap supermarket name Maxvalue is at the Nara JR station so it was very easy for us to find Sth to eat in the morning.

One trick for some one who wan to try sushi with the cheaper price, the supermarket will start discount around 8.30 pm so be there otherwise very few option will be there for you.

The machine vending restaurant is very close to the guesthouse. You should try it out. The very creative restaurant in Japan. Here, you choose what you want to eat from the machine abd buy the ticket from it. then you give it to the waitress and they will serve you your chosen food. It is a very reasonable price restaurant too.

The room is a bit small but well decorated with enough facilities. We booked the 4 people room and we got the two bunk bed in the room. The bathroom area was the highlight. It is a glass door bathroom with electronic lavatory and a shower box. Here they give you a same product of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel as hotel portopia Kobe, the five star hotel in Kobe, Japan ;) the towel will be changed every two days. The trash bin is cleaning everyday. The kitchen part is a bit small but everything is there for ur cooking, the toaster, microwave, pot, knives , etc. they even prepare the seasoning for u.

One last notice for whoever plan their trip to Nara. The famous sightseeing place always come with a bit expensive lunch in the area nearby so one trick to do is prepare ur discount sushi in the evening from the supermarket and take it with you. Do as you are going for a picnic at sightseeing places ;)

This guesthouse is a great option in Nara. Tucked away down a side street it feels nicely removed from the tourist throngs. It's also usefully close to the JR Station and its bargain Max Valu supermarket which has great ready made dinners at good prices. But the rooms here are Japanese tight. You will marvel at the brilliance of the packaging for the first hour and then find yourself stepping on your partner at every turn. Worse, the bunks are futons. Hard and uncomfortable. But this is Japan so many travelers will expect that. The only really disappointing bit is the soundproofing. The walls are not paper thin more like heavy cardboard thin but you can certainly hear your neighbors speaking and thumping about on the floor and slamming their sliding bathroom door. Depends how thoughtless they are I guess. So bring ear plugs! But it's hard to fault the owners service and friendliness and the spotless presentation so a good option if you come prepared. Also the wifi Internet is available in each room and is Adsl 2+ fast so a great plus not yet typical in Japan.

Really good guesthouse, even by high japanese standards. The rooms were so well furnished, the showers amazing and the owner was so helpful to us. We walked to all the sights too as we like walking and it's opposite the train station (one of them)

This guesthouse was just loverly. The lady who greeted us had excellent English and provided us with a great map of where to eat and the aprox. Costs.
The room was clean, the bunk beds comfortable and the bathroom small but fine. Enough room for everything and reasonably spacious. The small touches such as nice body wash / hair wash was great.
The guesthouse was very close to the station, eating places and also convenience stores and a little bike rider reasonable walk from the deer park and other local attractions. Thee was also a communal kitchen with fridge so food could be kept and drinks kept cold.
There was a little guest/ street noise but the place was lovely and would definitely stay here again.

I wish I had put in 3 days in Nara instead of 1. The ladys at the JR station gave is a map to find the guesthouse. It was really nice. The bunkbeds did not squeak for once and everything was super cleans and well designed. Stay for more days!! There we deer a block away when we arrived.

Room Tip: When you feed cookies to the deer, buy them and run away or they will bite you! Once you run away yo...

We booked a quad room for 2 nights. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed, and we only arrived at the Guest House the next morning. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and only charged us half the room rate for the 1st night. The room was slightly cramped but I liked the cosy feel, and thought it was just nice for a family of 4. The attached bath was modern and very clean. They have a fully equipped kitchen, and free wifi throughout the Guest House too. Location-wise, it is a 5-minute walk from Nara Station, and an enjoyable 20-30 minute walk to the main attractions ie. the Nara Park area.

Stayed here for two nights in May 2011, and found it to be absolutely perfect! The hostess who runs the place spoke very good English, and was very helpful, pointing out what to see and where to go. The guesthouse is only a five minute walk from the JR Nara train station, and very easy to find. The beds were comfortable, private bathroom was spacious compaired to other properties I stayed in. You can't go past this place for a nice place to stay in Nara!
