“Wow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

Not far away from Nikko world heritage site you may visit this wonderful Japanese architectual marvel of simpilicity and piece.
Due to hot and humid Tokyo's summer this was let's say emperor summer retreat for fresh air meditation.
You may see 400 years old cherry treee, beutiful garden with small stream, learn about way of life at that old time, shop for authentic souvenir with emeror's wife and dugheters in law flower embroideries on napkins etc.
If you are tehre please pay a vist to thsi site. Am sure you will love it, especially it is on your way from Nikko world heritage site

“beautiful garden”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

we went there quite late, about 30 minutes before the closing time so we did not get into the villa (they said it's already closed) but we get to walked around the garden.
The garden was very beautiful, especially with the autumn leaves.
we went there in November and this place had the most beautiful autumn leaves in Nikko during that time.
would love to go there again and visit the villa.

“The surprise of the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2012

The villa is beautiful and the displays give a good insight in the live of the royal family and the restoration done. Not the most engaging place for young children, but I am very glad we went.

“Beautiful Garden”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2012

Entrance fee is 500 yen and very worth it.
The Villa is very well maintained and we enjoyed touring it. There are lots of descriptive signs so you can read all about the different rooms and it's different uses.
I especially love the gardens and it's a very enjoyable walk.

“Don't miss the Summer Imperial Palace in Nikko, Japan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

So much to see, so much to learn, so much to be astounded by. The Tamozawa Imperial Villa, summer home to Japanese Emperors, and retreat from WWII bombing is a must-see. Renovated summer home includes architecture of three times, including a part of the imperial palace from Akasaka, Tokyo, that was moved to this location. If you are a history buff, don't miss this.
