4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

Omiya Palace is a Very good hotel, Clean Rooms, renewed Rooms decor, Pretty close to Omiya Train Station.
I have stayed 3 times since the last 20 years. Average Room Rate i paíd is 13,000 JPY per night.
I Prefer to stay at Akabane Daiwa Roynet Hotel for a 8,000 JPY room Rate including breakfast !

The hotel room is well equipped and classy enough for this budget. I was pleasantly surprised by the absence of wifi in the hotel though (i have heard it is common in this area). The hotel is ideally located for shopping and also for airport transfers. Staff is extremely courteous. Try the shrimp in their ground floor restaurant !

There are several business hotels near the train station and The Omiya Palace is clearly the best. The service is fantastic and the accomodations are close to Western standards regarding size. I would recommend a Deluxe or Twin Room so that you have more space. The Single Room is nice but smaller. While to hotel food is good, esecially breakfast, you should venture out to find some of the local restaurants and various entertainment.

Overall a great hotel. Westerners used to bigger rooms may be disappointed with the size of the accommodations. Also typical of Japan is the fact that there may be smoking rooms as I smelled smoke in the hallway. Also, had to change rooms because my toilet was broken.

Walking distance to Omiya subway station and lots of malls and restaurants. However, if you are a tourist, Omiya is far from Tokyo and there are closer hotels to downtown.

Pros:Affordable parking
Free internet in room (no wifi, you have to bring an en ethernet adapter)
Professional and courteous English speaking staff
Close to subway and tons of restaurants

Cons: May have smoking rooms
Far from Tokyo
Rooms are on the small side

The Palace Hotel Omiya is located app. 300m away from the West Exit of the Omiya Station, Prefecture Saitama, app. 25km North of City Center Tokyo. The Omiya Station operates all mayor trains (Shinkansen, regional or long distance trains). From Haneda as well as from Narita airport there are buses to the Omiya station (Narita app. 2hours, Haneda app. 1,5 hours - depending on the traffic). The Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are small compared with rooms in the US or in Europe. But all equipment is very clean and functionally. Air condition for each room individually controlled is pretty quiet and without much annoying airflow. There is at least a minibar in the room and a flat TV - but unfortunately without any original english channel. (CNN will be translated by japanese speaker over the original sound).
The bathroom is small but well equipped. There is free internet in the room (cable LAN only).
Some restaurants are in the hotel (Japanese, Chinese, European style) or in the nearby environment. Some mini markets, cafes and department stores are located in the railway station area, a few meters walkway from the hotel only.
I would recommend this hotel for business travellers or also for tourists. Omiya Bonsai-Village is only 3min by train away. All information is available from the front desk - but I already mentioned that the staff is very friendly. There is a breakfast buffet but I did not try it (To get a snack at the railway station is an adventure for European Visitors, probably also faster and cheaper ;-)) - and I was (like the Japanese people) alway in a hurry.

Best hotel I stayed prefered it to the Hotel Century Southern Tower to be honest (which was top 25) but not the location - great for my needs but probably not a great place to see Tokyo or the surroundings from
Omiya park and temple is a nice walk from hotel

This is my second stay in Palace Hotel Omiya, and I chose to stay here again because of the many positives with the hotel.
- Located very close to the railway station
- Clean comfortable (but small) rooms
- The hotel has 3 restaurants and a bakery
- There are many restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel
- Excellent shopping opportunities in the area (Bic Camera, Luminere mall etc.)
- Courteous and friendly staff

However there are a few negatives as well
- TV shows limited channel and among that only one English channel (CNN)
- The swimming pool is part of a open health club and hence crowded. The pool itself is only waist deep and crowded and not great for swimming
- Food is not the best

In all, it is a good place to stay. However for my next visit to Omiya, I plan to explore other hotels - just to find our what the competition is like :)
