“Convenient, clean & central”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

If you want a conveniently located hotel in the Chinatown area, this one is hard to beat. The subway entrance is only a minute away although there is a 150m tunnel to the ticket area. Although it is not a new hotel, it is quiet and well maintained. Staff were helpful & cheerful. Meals are not a problem with Chinatown's many options at your front door, and a Starbucks & convenience stores are within 30m. I got a late checkout (12pm) deal online - standard twin for only 10,000yen. As a bonus, the cute antique-style 100yen shuttle bus which takes in all the area's top tourist spots leaves from in front of the hotel. I highly recommend you take the bus at night to see the harbour all lit up. All that romantic atmosphere for just 100yen!

Stayed here for business and was really happy. Big rooms for Japanese standard with a king bed and 2 seat lounge area. Free internet in room and free wi-fi in lobby. Rosita the concierge was fantastic - very helpful, spoke great English and helped tremendously. Great spot and easy to walk anywhere in Yokohama, and plenty of food options. China Town is at your doorstep. 2 min walk from the subway and 3 mins from the waterfront. Rooms fully serviced everyday, including sheets, pillow cases etc and all staff very friendly. Breakfast selection downstairs was great. Staff really looked after you and nothing seemed too hard for them. The staff go out of their way to greet you and look after you. Rooms are a little tired with older decor, but big rooms and very clean. Air-con worked great in my room and will definitely stay here again.

The location - great. It is at the front gate of Chinatown, and you can get to the subway station in a couple of minutes.

The service - a bit lower than average. When we asked for an extention cord, they were quick. But, at the breakfast buffet, they were slow in refilling some of the foods, such as fruits, yoghurt, salad dressing, and miso soup.

The room - should be better when you consider the rates. My son, a teenager who is obsessed with games, were complaing that there were only one outlet for guets' use. The bathroom was small. The furniture was old. The room temperature was too hot to sleep comfortably, but we had no way to adjust it.

Overall, I thought the hotel was overpriced. Though the location is convenient, there are many other hotels in the neighborhood.

Dear Bunicchi, Thank you for your valuable feedback regarding our hotel. We are currently in the process of improving the in-room plug availability to make your stay more comfortable. The food and beverage department is always trying their best to satisfy your needs. We will be careful to replenish the buffet as smoothly as possible. As summer holiday is starting, our roof top pool awaits your family for a cooling plunge. We look forward to your kind revisit to our property in the future!

Good hotel at the entarnce of Chinatown, near the subway station Motomachi.
The size of the rooms is good, the rooms are clean, the location is good for seeing Yokohama and for excursions due to near access to the subway and then Yokohama station.
The temperature in our room was a little too hot and we could not really cool it down to less than 24' Celcius, the furniture in the room is used but still OK.
The service personal was friendly and could speak English. Very nice was that we could get the room already at around 11 o'clock in the morning (our plane was arriving in Japan early morning).

The hotel is located in the heart of Chinatown, and is just a couple of minutes away from the Motomachi/Chinatown subway station, so a great location as a base for traveling in Yokohama or going to see Tokyo as well. You have a great selection of places to eat around the hotel, however, the Chungking Chinese restaurant in the hotel has truly great food and service so highly recommended to eat here at least once if you are staying because fo the very reasonable sets with accomodation and course meals, along with a nice ala carte selection. (If you stay in the summertime, they have a pool on the top floor.) We stayed during high-season of spring vacation in Japan on a weekend, so Chinatown was very lively.
Although the hotel was very busy, the staff make sure you are treated with the highest level of hospitality. There was hardly any wait with the check-in although there were several people ahead of us, as with the check-out, which was also super fast, even with several families with children ahead of us. The staff drop everything they are doing to make sure you are treated well and not spend any extra time waiting, which was very important for us.
Breakfast buffet is served on the ground floor where you have wide selection of eye openers. We had a slow start to the morning so this was a bit crowded as well, so we had to wait a bit to get seated, but the food worth the wait and reasonable priced. The room and hotel is classic style, like the other hotels in the vicinity, but the rooms are all renovated, very clean and comfortable. So if you are looking for ultra modern high rise in Tokyo, you should look somewhere else, but if you like classic, and if you consider cost and performance, this hotel may be unbeatable.

Convenient, spacious, friendly......just great! If you are in Yokahama, should just stay in this hotel. Near Chinatown and other within walking distance attractions. My family and myself really enjoyed ourselves even though it was just a night.

Room Tip: Just drop them an email.....

Dear Gene Y,
Thank you for your kind compliment for our property. We will inform our team of your words. Yes, we are just 20 minutes away from Haneda International Airport and a simple 25 minute train ride to Shibuya, Tokyo. Sakura cherry blossom will be at full bloom in the beginning of April. Please do come back!

After 26 hours on trains and planes, it really does matter where you arrive - and descending in Yokohama´s Chinatown district, you may think you are in for a hectic ride. Not in the ROSE HOTEL, I can assure you. The spacy lounge oozes wamrth, mainly thanks to the ever so warm-hearted, charming and helpful staff members, who succeed to make you feel at home right from the first, crucial second. I would have thought the rooms were much smaller, but was pleasantly surprised. Comfortable twin beds and a pair of upholstered chairs are a winning combination here - letting you sleep tight and chat to invited friends or guests next door during the day or evening. There is enough space on the wide desk to write letters or use the broadband cable for E-mailing and internet enquiries, free of charge. A small fridge and tea-making facilities arepart of the deal as well as an all mod-cons bathroom which actually combines all the Western attributes - big bath tub! - with the Japanese art of making crucial bathroom operations a real wellness experience. You feel safe, sound and on top of the world here - personell and the manager can only be congratulated for their attention to detail. I love Yokohama, and whenever I´m back, this will only be imaginable in the Rose.
