We normally stay in the Minato Mirai area of Yokohama, but we may have found a new location. If you want to experience the crowded hustle and bustle of modern life, then Minato Mirai is perfect with its futuristic look, expansive food choices, range of shopping and picture perfect scenery. (Commercials, videos and movies scenes are shot here frequently) If you want more quiet, yet accessibility to everything, this hotel has it. The more luxurious sister of the Monterey Hotel next door, this one has 2 historic floors worth visiting itself. (The new lobby is boring) The rooms in the tower are large, luxurious and afford views over the Harbor, there is nothing wrong with anything here. The gate to Chinatown is a block away... You won't find steak or Burgers here, but Chinese, Japanese food of every specialty all with a 1 km square block. Dim Sum heaven, though avoid the cheap places... This is where often street vendors exceed the sit down restaurants... One thing and one thing well.
The metro station is around the corner from the hotel and runs very frequently. Minato Mirai is 2 stops away and downtown Tokyo about 45 minutes straight shot. The Red Tram stops in front of the hotel and is perfect for 300 yen to spend a day seeing Yokohama. Great way to start your visit.
