I stayed 5 nights here prior to embarking on a cruise from Japan and to visit freinds in the Yokahama Area. This Hotel has its good points and not so good points however is certainly clean, well run and I couldnt find fault with the service or any aspect of the hotel in general.
Location - This Hotel is located about 2 mins from both the Local Yokahama Subway System ( For the less able bodies dont take the stairs there is lifts from the subway to street level ) Its also located next to the Shinkasen Railway Line and Station which makes it ideal location wise for getting a high speed train to just about anywhere. The Hotel is next to a large 5 story shopping mall with just about everything you could want in it including a bunch of restaurants and cafes, supermarket and general shops.
In addition located next to the station less than 30 seconds out the door is a great electronics shop and there are a bunch of cheap eateries and more food stores in the station area. Also a Mc Donalds is located nearby the station should you need it.
Rooms - Well when I first seen my room I though it was kind of small by my standards but after a while it was quite useable and whilst not the flashest Hotel room ive been in it was comfortable. Oh The Beds are not the best if you seek a soft matress that is, You can get 10 different sorts of Pillows however, The rooms are a little bland and void in decor and the mini bar does not come stocked, But you can buy everything downstairs really cheap which is cool from a bunch of vending machines.
Oh they have those cool hi-tech Japanese toilets. I could find where to plug my iPod in to it but it plays music, and does a bunch of other things well you get the drift!!!! The Bathroom modules in the rooms are straight from the guys who supply cruise ships, Watch your step going in and out, All the Bathrooms have a deep Tub and multi shower jets and despite being cookie cutter design they do the job fine.
Facilities - The Hotel boasts a Pool ( Didnt look great but it wasnt swimming season anyway ) and all the other hotel things you expect. There are about a dozen restaurants in the complex including a Skybar and Sky restaurant ( Didnt try them but the view is great if its a clear day ) Cafe, Western Style Restaurant and a bunch of Japanese and Chinese Places in the basement. All good not very expensive either and there are menus all over the hotel so you can check the prices ( Most menus are in Japanese only though )
Oh If you need to get to Haneda Airport this is the 1st pick up point for the 3 x hourly shuttle. 750 Yen takes between 30mins to 60+mins depending on traffic. They pick up out front!!!! If you come in from Narita take a bus to the Yokahama City Airport Centre ( Something like that ) and then get the subway about 7 stops over or even easier get a taxi. ( Not that expensive really )
Service - Service was good cant fault it, If they say they will do something they do it, happily and properly. Bell Desk, Concierge and Front Desk do struggle a little with English but they will go out of there way to help you so it more than makes up for having to talk a little slow or wait around for someone else to help you. Top marks ladies and gents.
Some of the restaurants can be a thrown a little by gaijin but work with them and be a tadd patient and they will look after you too.
Overall
Great Place - HOWEVER whilst its located well for Rail Access it is a little out of the way for everything else. There are subway connections to everywhere you could want to go however this doesnt make up for an out of the way location. This place is quite cheap however but then again as per above value to location needs to be considered. I would suggest if you are looking here do price other hotels in downtown Yokahama so you can make your own mind up as to the location factor.
The Pan Pacific, Intercontinental, Grand Park and a few others are all located downtown near a bunch of malls and other attractions near the bay so do consider this fact. ( You will pay alot more )
However this is a good value for money hotel with alot going for it and is well run and managed.
