“Good for business travel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

I stayed for 5 nights for a recent business trip to Yokohama. So easy to get to and from Haneda with the limousine bus stopping right outside. Good service from reception and concierge and had a very nice room with a view over the bay. I do agree with some previous reviewers that the carpet is sadly in need of replacement, my room had several faded spots and my colleague's room was worse. The hotel lobby bar had their carpet replaced while we were there so hopefully that is the start of having the carpets replaced all through the hotel. I found the bed very comfortable. Room service was prompt and delicious. The hotel had several different cuisines represented in its restaurants and there were also some lovely restaurants nearby in the Queen's Mall/Landgate complex. Good internet in the room so easy to work and stay in touch with home! Happy to stay here next time I'm working in Yokohama.

Club floors are fine, harbour view recommended and the drinks/canapes/breakfast in the Club Lounge are well worthwhile. Internet works, restaurants are fine and excellent ones are just around the corner in Minato Mirai or across the Bay in Chinatown and, of course, Salone2007, one of the world's great places to eat.

Room Tip: Bay view, high-floor unless you want a possible look at Mt. Fuji -- then the otherside is best for y...

stayed 1 night for business. Checked in ok, very polite. Room was dated. This hotel was very nice when opened but now need some renovation on lightning, furniture. Bed was not Intercontinental standard, very hard and there was no soft part, room chair was like from some cheap hotel chain. Desk is not good for work, only one power outlet located behind the table. No room light control near bed. Since the room had a nice view of the sea, just wished for much comfy furniture to relax.

Good Points:
Nice views
Great breakfast
Great for joggers
Convenient direct bus from both Narita and Haneda
Spacious rooms

Weak Points:
Rooms a little run down (especially carpets)
Out of the way location
Expect more for that price
Gym hours (opens at 9am)

Stayed here on business for a week in a Deluxe room with sea view. The rooms are of a good size, but the decor is very dated, the carpet looked faded and the furniture was chipped and had been overpainted too many times.

The facilities are also poor. Guests have to pay a VERY steep fee to use the pool/spa area, which is in a poor state of repair and foreign guests appear to be discouraged from using it.

The bar lacks in any atmosphere and is tucked away in a windowless room. In a building with so many great views, this is astonishing. A band plays in there some evenings, but the band that I saw was so loud that it would have been impossible to hold a conversation.

Colleagues stayed at the Pan-Pacific hotel next door and reported a far better experience.

A final note - try and get a room rate with breakfast included. The on-site rate for the breakfast is the most expensive that I have ever seen.

Room Tip: Away from the elevators, they have a very loud "ding"!

Stay for 3 nights for business.

I have business trip in Tokyo, but I decide to try Intercontinental Yokohama Grand for many reasons.

1. Price just less than half of Intercontinental in Tokyo
2. The room size is a lot bigger than most of the hotel in Tokyo with nice view of Yokohama bay.
3. Quite area, but next to big shopping mall
4. There is direct train from Minatomirai station, about 3 min walk from hotel, to Shibuya in about 35-40 mins, and seat is always available.

If you don't mind travelling 35-40 mins to Shibuya, I would recommend Intercontinental Yokohama rather than small room and too busy hotel in Tokyo

If by chance business or pleasure has you fortunate to spend time in Yokohama then stay at the Interncontinental Grand. Unusual design, on the watersedge with great views overlooking the bay and it truly deserves it's 5 star ranking. 2 Shopping malls with an abundance of restaurants are within 5 minutes and the entire walk is covered and we discovered walking trails and a bike rental place around the corner. Also next door is a huge Ferris Wheel that is pretty spectacular in the evening with the light show.
We had access to the Concierge lounge located on the 28th floor and the staff is truly professional and will try to accomodate your wishes. Always a nice selection of breakfast items and the "happyhour" with its snacks and drinks was a not to miss attraction.

Room Tip: seaside views are a must
