“Good, Services Must Improve”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

Brand new and well kept, comfortable rooms.

Great location: in front of the train/metro station and tour bus, in the same building of a department store and restaurants, and within walking distance (easier with a walkway) to a beaufitul mall with great stores, supermarket and better restaurants. Near Minato Mirai touristic area.

Front desk people need improvement: we tried to check in at 2:40PM and they offered an early checkin with a considerable additional rate. I said no, and then the lady said our room would be available at 3PM. Come on, a little bit of common sense doesn't kill.

We had lunch at the restaurant (2 people). My order arrived about 15 min later than my wife's, and it was wrong. She was almost finished, and I walked away without eating. English is bad generically, but I pointed at the menu, with the photo, and the waitress repeated it, no justification!

The restaurant closes at 9PM and there is no room service.

A front desk attendant booked me a cab to the airport and informed a wrong rate.

English improvement is necessary at the front desk and restaurant.

2 minutes walk from Sakuragicho station, this hotel is ideal for visiting the beautifully refurbished port area of Yokohama.
Also, with many bus stops just in front of the hotel, you can travel in and around Yokohama very easily.
Our room on the 11th floor was facing the oceanside, hence we had a great view.
Buffet breakfast and dinner at the Sea restaurant (close to the lobby on the 3rd floor) were good, although it is rather cold when you sit close to the restaurant entrance.
The room is rather wide, although there have no cupboards with drawers, and the illumination is a little bit too dim.

Room Tip: rooms facing the ocean side offer a great view, especially at night

Stayed here for 1 week to be close to the Yokohama Pacifico Convention Center for the Yokohama Hot Rod Car show that was taking place. After staying in Shibuya the week before, I found that this hotel was lacking in amenities. While it is clean and fairly roomy (by Japanese standards), it doesn't much else besides location. You do not get free water, The internet is by cable only, and doesn't always work well and no free breakfast. There is no workout room, or sauna that guests can use. It's a business hotel on the bay and that's it. The staff are polite, but not very friendly and will not bend over to help you with a problem or find alternatives. For the price that you pay, I would expect a little bit more than what we got. on the plus side, it is located 15 minutes away from the Pacifico Center, it's right on the bay, and right beside the train, and you have a mall underneath.

Stayed here for 3 nights before we left for Tokyo. This is a great hotel, very convenient to shopping, restaurants, walking, sights etc. The room was fabulous! We had a superb view of the city to the west and Mt. Fuji sunsets were the best. One of the nicest washrooms, shower and bidet I have seen here! WE will return next year!!

Room Tip: City view is a beautiful Mt. Fuji sunset on a good day.

Excellent breakfast, clean rooms although compact, bathrobes and slippers are changed daily, and location is convenient, since it has malls and a convenient store within the same building. I broke the teabag plate and they did not charge me. We checked out at 5:00 in the morning and they gave us breakfast packs!

Some good and very good parts but let down by details. Room check in not until 3 pm - sharp and NO wi fi. Room was spacious and comfotable. No noise due to rooms starting on 10th floor. No bar available on by going out of hotel and onto ground level

We stayed at the New Otani Inn for 6 nights and thought it was a really great hotel in Yokohama. The rooms are new, very clean, and a bit bigger than we expected based on other reviews. Agree that the breakfast was too pricey and just average. I would highly recommend the New Otani to anyone visiting Yokohama.
