“Free airport shuttle from/to Narita Airport”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Stayed at this hotel for a night as it provides free airport shuttle to Narita Airport to catch my flight the next morning (approx. 20 mins drive).

This hotel is only 5-min walk away from JR Narita and Keisei Narita stations, with some convenient stores and small local restaurants (including a 24-hour McDonald's!) nearby.

Hotel is tired and definitely needs some refurnishing. Free wifi is available in rooms but not stable.

1-2 free airport shuttle service is operated every hour. Be sure to check with hotel for its schedule (as they may change without prior notice). The airport shuttles can be big buses as well as small family vans (for ~8 passengers). They are served on first come first serve basis.

We booked this hotel because we were passing through on our way to Kyoto and it had a free airport shuttle. It was perfect as it wasn't just an airport hotel in the middle of nowhere. It gave us the afternoon to explore the town, which was a bit hilly. We found a beautiful big temple with lots of steps, Naritasan Shinsho-ji Temple. There are plenty of restaurants and shops to explore too. Breakfast was adequate with limited western style available.

Staff are courteous and room clean and size was fine for two of us. Bathroom was a bit of a surprise- reminded me of a caravan bathroom but it was also adequate. We booked through a hotel club, had a double room which turned out to be a queen size bed.

I recommend Mercure Hotel Narita for those who want to do more than just wait for a plane to catch.

We have stayed at the Mercure Narita several times over the past couple of years. We choose to stay in the Mercure because unlike most Narita Hotels it is one of only a couple located in the town; the majority of Narita Hotels are located remotely between the Narita airport and the town and you will need to take a shuttle bus or taxi to venture outside your hotel. At the Mercure you just walk out the door and you can explore the beautiful town of Narita and eat in any one of MANY local restaurants, plus the Mercure is just steps away from the Narita Rail Stations (two different rail operators).

The Mercure Narita is fairly typical of the standard of hotel in the Narita region; hard Japanese style mattress and pre-fabricated ensuite bathroom to the bedroom. The hotel rooms are clean and functional, air-conditioned (but only the speed can be varied, not the temperature - that is set by the hotel) fortunately windows can be opened and the curtains can be closed for a complete black-out for daytime rest. There is only one free TV program available in English - the BBC News Chanel.

We were very happy with the Hotel Mercure. The room was very clean and quite large by Japanese standards. It had fridge and teamaker. Very quiet as well, though we faced the street and a construction site was nearby. At points in the day it was a bit stuffy. Bed was, well, Japanese. We were fine with that. I was happy to see that the hotel was located on a charming small street with cute restaurants opposite. Breakfast offered everything you could ever want, Western or Japanese, including better mini croissants than we get in New York--and half of Paris, for that matter.

We spent two nights there as a way to recover from jet lag and get oriented. It was our first time in Japan. From that standpoint we couldn't have made a better choice. The hotel is two blocks from the two train stations. The next day we got instructions from both the hotel and the train tourist bureau for Shinshoji Temple, which was a mistake as we got unnessarily confused between them and got lost. Many nice people gave us instructions to get back to the Temple -which turned out to be on the same street as the hotel...!

Shinshoji Temple is amazing--a major pilgimage site of at least five major temples and at lest 25 other temples and structures, plus gardens and forest with paths and shrines. We went back twice. The main shopping street was great and a very pleasant walk back to the hotel..

i would highly reccomend any traveller to Japan to spend two days at the Mercure. We couldn't have had a better introduction to Japan.

Is located in fron of Narita city train statin.
You can jump in Narita airport terminal 1 or 2, then get local train at same platform and return to Narita city.

Never thought I'd be writing an excellent review for a Mercure, but here it is! After 5 weeks of travelling across Russia, China & Japan we picked this for our very last night. Just wanted somewhere close to the airport representing good value. It certainly did this and lots more, as Narita has a really characterful centre, with some great little restaurants and bars. The hotel rooms were the most spacious of our own trip, very comfortable and with wifi. And the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to the terminals. Really spot on. Stay here before you fly and you'll enjoy Narita and wonder how you coped in all those cramped rooms elsewhere in Japan!!

I stay here because I have no choice. The hotel is in need of a major refurb it hasn't been touched in years. My rooms melt awful like really bad sweaty socks and I had the view of the train station(plays strange tunes during the daywhich wouldn't bother me normally except that in front of the station is major building works so I had very little sleep during my stay.
If you have never been to Japan you would imagine everything would be super trendy high tech, think again as this hotels rooms are like a static caravan form the seventies! The bathroom is like nothing you would have ever experienced in any hotel before. The entire bathroom is brown and beige moulded plastic and the toilet bizarre as its electric and flushes as soon as you sit on it. And the shower shoots water on to the wall. Rock hard beds, paper thin walls(had to listen to the cringe worthy going on next door!!). It was very warm weather and the air conditioning wasn't working which a colleague informed us was supposed to have been fixed the day before but reading a review from last month it wasn't working then! Hotel reception staff are as you would expect in Japan, dead pan straight polite, no smiles.
Location is good in the centre of Narita that's about it!
