“Excellent value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2012 via mobile

We stayed here 1 night. We expected a small room, as we only paid 7,000 yen, but to our surprise the room was big enough. What a great price to stay in makuhari. The room was clean & had the usual services. Like most hotels in japan, not many english tv channels. View from our room was amazing. Plenty of shops in the hotels building, including a convenience store. Train station is 5 mins walk. Convention centre across the road. I`d stay here again, but porbably not for a lengthy stay due to lack of space to spread out.

stayed there for 4 days. front desk is very courteous. They can speak English. Restaurants were good and serveed a varietu of cuisine. There was a 24 hr shop catering ti articles of daily need. The Hotel follows an eco friendly policy, and if guests agree for that, they provide a complimentary mineral water bottle. The Bell desk has a counter for limousine bus tickets to Narita airport etc

Room Tip: Higher rooms provide a better view. Try to choose a room on the side that gives the bay side view

I attend a fair each year at the Makuhari Messe. Have tried most in the area. New Otani and APA are closest and a number of smaller nice places within short walk. Apa is a very tall building, maybe was quite nice when built but has a lot of wear. I had a superior room and a super view of the bay and area. That in itself was worth the price which is a bit lower than New Otani. Lots of wear and tear, water leakage in the windows, smelled mold. Had a Chinese buffet on a top floor, which was like a cafeteria. Would avoid that, takes only cash which they demand in advance and announce that you have two hours to eat. Drinks must also be paid on the spot which makes it awkward and the food is so so . Anyway, just for the location alone, it was ok. But, I was happy to leave. Just did not have a Japan hotel feel. Any of the places nearby like Manhattan, Franc, Green, Springs are nicer but take a short walk. I would not stay at the APA again.

Room Tip: Go for a superior room and a corner at that.

Came here to exhibit in Makuhari Messe, we had a superior room, and yes, the room is SMALL! The bathroom feels like a cubicle that is placed in the room, very unpleasant to shower or use the bathroom, it stinks. The bed was too springy, i can feel the spring when I sleep. But the location is great, there's a few malls within walking distance, and a train to go to tokyo. There are restaurants and bakery on those malls, so it is convenient. Not only it is expensive, it is also not a very comfortable hotel, and it doesnt look friendly. Some of the hotel staff do not speak English, but what really helps is that there's a 24/7 convenience store inside the hotel. Food there are fresh and eatable.

If you have a business at the Makuhari fair, then it's not too bad. The superior rooms are OK, there is a nice "balinese" spa inside the hotel and a 24/7 convenience store.
The building is huge and not very pleasant to the eye. Most guests are from nearby countries such as China, which translates in huge queues in the morning for the breakfast buffet. There is a direct path into the fair pavillion, which makes things easier in the morning.
A direct bus from and to Narita Airport is also available.

I also once stayed at the standard single rooms, which were really tiny. It's bearable, but certainly not for vacation or family.

Room Tip: Do not take the single standard rooms, unless you're really on a tight budget.

Plus points of this hotel are the public baths (free for guests), nice views particularly from the bar on the 50th floor, walkway to the conference centre (messe), 24-hour convenience store, many reasonably-priced restaurants nearby in various hotels and business buildings, and direct bus to/from Narita airport (40 minutes). Small rooms and pre-fabricated bathrooms that other reviewers complain about are standard for Japanese business hotels. Free internet connection: in-room wired internet was fast but wi-fi in lobby was slow.

Room Tip: ask for a room on an upper floor (mine was on 43)
