“Excellent onsen and friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

We enjoyed the onsens there, esp the outdoor onsen with good view. More, the staff offered detailed orientation and introduction to guests. The room is very spacious and we felt comfortable. But we could not access wifi in the room.
Though it takes around 10-15 minutes walking from station, it is not difficult to locate the hotel. The staff also provided tips on tour around the area. Most surprising, they drove us to the station when we left,

We enjoyed a single night at Yokikan and felt very welcome and taken care of.
The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The hotel is quirky but clean and with a good atmosphere. It is a little old in some area but nothing that hinders the comfort of the stay.
We got dinner and breakfast which was quite nice albeit very japanese which some people might find challenging since there is a lot of seafood.
The spas are very nice and relaxing.

We stayed two nights in late December 2013. We were a little nervous about whether we'd have difficulty understanding the customs involved in staying at a traditional ryokan, but the staff were super helpful and made it easy and fun. The food was excellent, and we enjoyed exploring the surrounding area as well.

This was one of the best experiences my wife and I had on our vacation. The staff and service was simple 'excellent'. We had the package that included breakfast and dinner, and the food was not only delicious but beautifully presented.

My thanks to the General Manager and his wife, who spoke excellent English and helped us out on any language difficulty we may have had.

The hot springs were a treat and very relaxing.

I highly recommend this establishment.

The traditional japanese room was quite spacious: main defect was a bit of cigarette smoke smell (either coming from the corridor or soaked in furniture of the room). The staff was helpful: the room maid did not speak any English, but some of the staff speak good English and you get a folder with info in Engligh about how to stay in the hotel / behave in the bath / etc so it is ok. They paid for my taxi upon my arrival and offered to take me to the station when I left.
The hot bath is quite good, including the open-air one. The view is not that great but it is a cozy, nice environment: nice place to have a chat while bathing. Main drawback are the mosquitos that can be annoying. I appreciated very much having also the hot bath available in the room. I am not too sure about cleanliness because it seemed to me the table in my room hadn't been properly cleaned in some time, and one night I spotted a cockroach in the bathroom. But the hot bath facilities appeared to be ok.
Concerning the food, I only had breakfast but the food was very good.

the mixed open air onsen which has ladie's time is awesome, luckily i occupied it all by myself twice. we also enjoyed the bathtub hot spring in our room. comparing with the business hotel we stayed in tokyo, the space of yokikan is extremely large, and tatami is much comfier than we thought. the manager has lived in the US for many years and speaks fluent english, it was kind of him to drive us to the station. the staffs were also kind and warm.
